LONG WAIT, but finally here! New member with AW 6MT
I have been enjoying just being an observer on this forum for the past five months. Now that I've taken delivery of my M5 a couple of weeks ago, I decided to finally become a member. I look forward to becoming an active forum member.
Here's the story that led up to my recent delivery. I have been waiting five months to receive my M5! The reason is that my first order was one of the lucky ones to be affected by the oil pump recall. Once my car arrived to port and the VPC, it sat their for a month waiting for an oil pump. Bad news was that the car's computer could not be reprogrammed once the oil pump was actually replaced or something to that affect. Basically the car did not work properly after the oil pump was replaced. So my client advisor advised that I not take delivery of the car even if they were able to get it working for fear of potential future problems. I agreed and then placed another order, which meant waiting another two months! To make matters worse, I had just sold my '06 E46 M3 a week before the expected delivery of my new M5. This would mean that I would be left without a car for two months. My CA and dealer were kind enough to loan me a brand new 528i for free until my M5 arrived. A 528 is definitely no where close to a M5, but it did allow me to get used to the iDrive. Even though it was a torturous long wait, it all worked out in the end. BMW North America offered to pay for my first month's car payment and also agreed to give me two passes to the M driving school. I was planning to pay to go to the M school anyways, so this was great news. Overall, my CA and dealer took great care of me. My initial impression of the F10 M5 is one of amazement! It's a big jump coming from an E46 M3. I loved my M3, but this M5 has so much power. The comfort of the interior and all the technological features and gadgets just blow me away. Having a new baby was the main reason for jumping to the M5. With the M5 I can have a full-size family sedan and super saloon all in one. I'm having my cake and eating it too! Mods will be coming so stay tuned. In the meantime, here are some pics. I'm not the best photographer, so sorry for the poor quality. I just had to show off my new Recaro baby carseat! My previous ride. |

Congrats. U have to slide that pass seat up quite a bit. Can you still get the wife in the frot seat? As big as the M is... It's tight with the baby...

Yeah the passenger seat is up to the max, but my wife is still able to sit in the front. She's not that tall or big, so that helps. If she was any bigger, it would be a problem.
