M5 vs New M3/4

Looking at the specs and on paper numbers it looks like F8X M3 should at least equal M5's performance.

Also seeing as M3 maybe under rated from factory the performance should be even better.

I understand M5 has higher quality materials inside and all that stuff but I'm looking at performance comparison strictly.

What do you think?

M5 all around top performer hands down, and I would personally not take a M3 or the M5. Also I will do a 991 over a M3 any day. Good luck.

The M3/4 May be a better track car, but the raw power and sound of a V8TT vs. a I6TT = no comparison.. 600hp is way more fun that 400hp...

Yes this is true, ultimately we won't know real world acceleration data until the M3/4 are released.

So far I was going off of BMW's official release information.

The numbers would indicate the the power to weight ratio of the two cars is nearly identical. Knowing that the M5 is underrated I think it will come down to whether the M3/M4 is equally underrated and for some reason I doubt it. My money is on the TTV8.

M5 is a Private Jet.

M3 is a Piper Malibu.

M5 is a Moby Dick.

M3 is a Nemo.

M5 is Goliath.

M3 is David.

M5 is the Millennium Falcon.

M3 is the Snow Speeder.

Two different cars. Two different purposes. Also given the state of BMW's current encryption program. As with the S63tu, the S55 engine's ECU will not be cracked within the next 5 years and will therefore never be faster in the straightline than the F10 M5.

I'm not an expert but M3/4 ECU will be cracked withing a year. The only reason why it takes so long for M5 is that it's not a high volume car compared to M3/4 so the demand is naturally lower. In turn tuners aren't really trying too hard.

I would agree with Barry Sanders but I would have to go with Bo Jackson - big and insanely fast - just like the M5

Garage List
Performance is broad term...M3 will be more nimble since it is much lighter but the M5 is a lot more agile than it looks...I prefer a TTV8 than TTI6.
