M1 and M2 Buttons Keep Going Back to Default Settings
I haven't been able to make the M1 or M2 buttons in the F10 "stick" to whatever settings I want. On my M4 I just change the setting in iDrive with no issues at all.
But I've changed all the settings in iDrive and have also manually chosen different settings and held down whichever M button I wanted to program until I heard a confirmation sound, but as soon as I turn off the car and Later turn it back on, both buttons go back to some type of default settings. It's driving me crazy! I'm thinking I'll have to take it to the dealer, but maybe someone here has dealt with this issue before. Thanks in advance!

When I hit an M button I previously programmed before I turned off the car it doesn't come on with the settings I programmed it with. When I turn off the car the M buttons go BACK to some sort of default settings...definitely not the settings I set prior to turning off the car.

That's how the M buttons in the M5 have always functioned. Are you saying that when you push the M buttons after you've started the car, it doesn't activate the functions you set them for?

You are right. M button and all other settings (profile settings) are tied to the key fob so basically you can have different M1 , M2 settings on different (2) key fobs are coming with your cars. The different setting are being stored on the hard disk (on car) and indexed to the key fob code. now whenever you get in the car and start the engine, the Bluetooth communication between car and your key is being taken the place and car knows which key is being used by driver and then immediately loads the setting. The issue is addressed by OP must be either keyfob or some iDrive functionality...

Problem solved. Thank you. I went into the profile settings and chose a profile, then set all the M buttons l, stations, and seat positions again. Works like a charm?
