Should be taking delivery of my car in 2 weeks (finally the 3 month wait is coming to an end), and am just doing my research on the best radar/laser setup to install.

I currently have Laser Interceptor (High Power) duels for the front, with a Valentine 1 - both purchased in 2012-2013 that I'm planning on bringing over from my current M3 to the M5.

Basically, is it even worth installing this setup on the new car, or are both pretty much outdated with newer technology units? The Passport Max 360 looks like my best shot for a radar, what about jammers? Are the LI still one of the best?

(Not looking for a stealth setup, just a simple dashboard radar with jammers up front)

Thanks

Keep your existing setup and transfer over. LI heads are still top notch. Just make sure you upgrade your firmware/software if that's an option. If your buying a new set, ALP is the way to go. They are right now the top system out there.

I haven't got the balls to use laser jammer. If caught in the UK, you face prison for perverting course of justice

Oh right!?! I didn't know they were jammers... Thought we were talking advance warning systems only...?

Thanks for the feedback!

The LI+V1 has saved me many many times I couldn't imagine driving fast without them at this point......I do a lot of city driving with highway on weekends, and the V1 has gotten progressively worse in regards to giving way too many false alerts (to the point where I simply mute it unless I drive fast).

I'll keep the LI and just get a new detector.
Anyone have experience with the Passport Max 360 or the new Beltronics GT7?

The latest stinger uses fiber optics instead of big sensor heads. The fiber optics can be embedded into your headlights so there would be no visible signs of a laser jammer on your car. Also you can enter a code into the control panel which turns it into a radio so the police would have no evidence you were running it in laser jammer/detector mode.

not proud of it, but helps to have an understanding Insurer, broker and wife!!

bans are painful to anyone needing to get around and work...

I would like to say I have learnt my lesson?!

I will be investing in the best system possible, but not keen on jammers, as I think they'll throw the book at me next time..

Not that familiar with UK courts, but in US courts, the worst they can do is confiscate the jammers. The issue for prosecutors is the jammers take away the evidence they have to prosecute you and open them up to the charge of wrongful arrest and therefore case dismissal. The point being if they don't have evidence you are speeding, then they don't have a right to stop you in the first place, therefore any evidence they obtained from their wrongful traffic stop is inadmissible in court.
