Question Slight vibrating / pulsating sound and feel on WOT? Anyone in Irvine area to help?

Just picked up an M6 a couple days ago. When I go wide open throttle, at above 5k RPM, there starts to be a general feel and sound of a slight vibration or pulsation in the sound of the car (and a little bit in the steering wheel as well). The car just doesn't sound and feel as smooth and buttery as when accelerating in the lower RPMs.

This isn't a wheel vibration because it doesn't just happen at or above a certain speed, it only happens above about 5k RPM when giving the car full throttle. Also, when I rev the engine in neutral this sensation doesn't exist.

Is that just how the M5/M6 and the S63 engine behaves or am I describing a possible issue with the car?

Any feedback and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

P.S. Since these types of descriptions are so subjective and hard to convey with words, are there any members in the Irvine area with an M5 or M6 willing to meet up to try my car so I know if it's normal or not? Thanks.

You might have a wheel balance issue where at certain speeds you get such feedback. Did you buy the car used? I would have your selling dealer check it as one or more of the weights on the wheels could have fallen off.

Yes used from independent. Still warranty remaining but first trying to determine if it's an actual issue before having dealer check it out.

I don't think it's a wheel balance issue because it seems to be affected by RPM only and not particular speed.

Since it's just a slight sensation, maybe it's just how the M5/M6 behaves at high RPM's with more vibrations coming through drivetrain? My biggest fear is it's a driveshaft or transmission issue.

sorry my bad, i read your post fast--- rpm related definitely needs a dealer review. I never had such issues on my 13 m5, 13 m6, and my 16 m5.

I had identical symptoms on my first M5 and turned out there was a broken motor mount.

Thanks for the tip. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what this is. Definitely feels like something in the powertrain.

Did it take dealer long/several visits to diagnose it? After it was fixed, the symptoms went away completely?

Based on what you explained, this should be something that dealer can reproduce easily. Let them figure it out. Irvine BMW has many expert technicians, shopformen...

The motor mount was visibly broken so he identified it quickly once the car was on the lift. Issue never came back after the replacement.
