Oil Cooler Residual during oil change
Has anyone here ever wondered about the extra 1 1/2 qts of oil in the oil cooler during an oil change. I don't think it drains out. Has anyone manually drained the cooler during an oil change?

Its a small percentage of the total oil volume and doesnt matter.
If you really want it out you can change your oil. Drive around a few days then change it again. That would remove most of it and some other that would have been left behind other places.

You would never be able to get all of the residual oil out of the engine from the oil cooler, oil cooler lines, oil thats stuck in the head, turbo lines and part of the oil pan which don't drain when you drain the oil out.

...but this is an addition 1 1/2 qts in addition to the amount that remains in the locations you mention. I'm guessing the oil remaining in the engine areas is less than 1/2 qt. Add the oil cooler residual, now you've got 2 qts undrained...just saying...maybe that's why there's a 10k interval...
