Haha OK yeah that one I'm completely in agreement with! Squeal is crazy on these brakes. Sometimes I wonder if I'm driving an ///M or a dump truck.

i will never track my car but...
compared to my 14zcp with regular brakes i love the ccbs they are dust free it is really nice to have clean wheels they don't squeak like my other brakes although there are forum members that say they squeak louder i have not experienced it yet maybe luck |

Once they squeak they don't stop though. Mine doesn't squeak either, lucky me. |

I bought a car with CCB because I would DD it. Its the best CCB that I have right now. It has saved me a couple of times already where I think I would hit somebody. It would surprise you when you press the pedal, its stops on a dime.

Unless I'm mistaken, CCB should brake the same as normal on the street. Their advantages are less brake fade during repeated hard stops like on a track and less dust plus longer life. Disadvantages are more squeaking and cost.

I am difficult to please. And having owned in the past and current cars with CCB, I would say the CCB in the F10 is on top of them. And this is a heavycar to stop. I do not track cars with CCB. In fact, if you track a CCB, you will use up the CCB like a steel brake. And its expensive to replace. Thats why most people like me only use steel brakes to track. Thats where the advantage is, if you use a CCB in the street, you probably would not replace it for the whole life of the car. For the track, dont buy it. For the street, buy it. IMHO. |

Im just too happy BMW offered CCB in the M5 that you can DD. Most brands only offer it with the 2 door sports cars. Maybe there are others but I do know about. |

Ok thx. My concern was people said the rotors last 100k. I'm hoping its much longer with periodic pad changes. If its 100k, i need to compare the cost of 2 steel sets of rotors to one ccb. In that case ccb gets expensive. I do think the calipers are the same except for paint. If that's true I'd get a used with ccb and when they're dead switch to steel rotors and ceramic pads that work with steel rotors to limit dust. If the steel rotors and pads aren't compatible, I'd probably get a car with steel to keep costs down.

I am sure even with hard driving in the street, it would be more than enough for it. When new, my car says 80000 to replace brakes. I dont know what exactly it means but Ive got 6000 miles now and it stills says 80000 miles. I just dont worry about it now. Not like my other cars with steel brakes. |

having driven base m5 extensively with steels, and owning a m5c with CCB's now, its to each their own tbh.
i love mine. virtually no dust, great bite, and the gold calipers look killer. is it worth 8k? no prob not

100000 miles is impressive though it may be short-lived when replacing tyres. The wheels need to be removed at the same level when pulling away from hub or if they are dropped to the ground the rim may damage the edge of the C disc and will probably need replacing at tremendous cost.CC discs are very fragile and easily damaged unlike steel ones.Putting the wheel back on is even more difficult and without a level winch two people are needed to offer it up carefully while a third one locates the wheel/lug nuts.

Not cheap. Calipers are different, too.

Thinking someone with $ to burn should get the kit and post a thread on all what's needed to do the conversion. Parts, labor, etc. Would be interested in this project at the right price...
