What I've Learned About Booze:

I can't tell the price difference in a bottle of red wine between $12 and $100. I either like it or I don't, and it has no bearing on the price.

White wine is more like $35-$100, for the same thing.

With Bourbon, however, price directly correlates to taste. Unless you're at a skanky sports bar - then just stick with the house whiskey and coke.

Rye whiskey is an acquired taste. Which I've acquired.

So is Scotch. Which I haven't acquired.

Canadian Club is a Club I don't want to join. Or be near. Disclaimer: The preceding comment is in no way to be interpreted as a slight to the Canadian peoples, whether indigenous or colonizing.

Had I had better friends on this board, I would have been warned of the fire on the barn door-water run off taste. Needless...not what I expected, but need to give it the traditional 3 times before I make my decision.

It is rumored to have more of the Islay influence, so now I'm gonna have to try it, but if you don't like smokey peat, stick w/ the regular JW Black (but might want to try Ballantines - IMHO way better than most blended and reasonably priced, so it is my 'time to get drunk' go-to).

I'd compare this JW to a lighter version of the Laphroaig I have on my bar. It's getting better every glass

Still no standard GJ bottle at my local packie, so it's the 1792 again. Not that that is a bad thing. Very tasty bottling. I've been traveling the last week and only drinking beer, so I'm happy to be back to bourbon tonight.

I overdid it just a tad last night watching the Sox game. Felt like crap this morning. The 1792 is a bit stronger than my usual GJ. I need to remember that.
