Coolant Flush- spark plug change

Has anyone completed a coolant flush on their beast yet? I can't seem to find any information on flushing the system, only thing I see in TIS is removing the lower hose. There's nothing about an engine block bleed bolt or anything.

Also, does the spark-plug change pop up on the Idrive like an oil change? Does it show up on the key or internals?

I did my plugs at 50k, which is what I was told the dealer recommends. I did a coolant flush but just did coolant line changes and new fluid.

Don't mess with the block just drain the rad and refill then if you wish do the same again after say a 100 miles and most of its done.

Plugs 30k max. I'm changing mine now at 23k. My Indy shop tells me 30k ok if not driven hard but do it more frequently if so because they've seen them melted and ceramic bits come off with hard use on the M5 with long change intervals.

I'll be doing it while I'm off work for the holiday break. I haven't looked up the procedure yet but the shop told me the main thing you have to do is move the ECUs aside but not disconnect them.

Couple questions:

So there is no pop up in I Drive for the Sparkplugs like an oil change is due, brakes etc?

Is there a special bleeding procedure once you refill Coolant?

I would just use the trusted method of bouncing the front of the car up and down when refilled until the burbling has stopped and squeezing the hoses etc with the fill cap removed then start her up and go for a drive.Later when cold check the level again and top up if necessary.

Has anyone got any more info of when sparkplugs would need changing, don't think it comes up on i-drive when due and probably depends on how hard the motor is driven; There are 2 or 3 different types of heat ranges for these of which not that easy to get the part numbers or if it is in fact a normal plug that most would go for.
The fitting of these have even caught out a few experienced fitters with the coil clip caps seemingly locked on but then coming undone and throwing warnings.

I haven't. Interesting thing it seems the spark plugs nor Rear diff pop up.. So not a "maintenance item" per se..

I would have imagined Coolant flush would be part too, considering the amount of heat generated by these things.. Still looking for proper coolant bleed technique for radiator and charge coolers..

I would stick w/ OEM plugs- call dealer and get part # then source that way.. I plan on using FCPEURO.. even if we change every 25k miles, they are warrantied for life.. so cheap insurance.

Read that diff oil change is on every second engine oil change, my Bm service agent showed me question mark by diff when he put the key in his computer so it was changed.

No, spark plugs, transmission and diff fluids do not have popups, and haven't on any BMW I've had. You can get part numbers from realoem.com I just look it up and order online. Get the Bosch branded plugs because the same exact plug under the Genuine BMW parts system is astonishingly pricey for just spark plugs.

Amazing,have found 8 double platinum bosch spark plugs for '13 M5 for £85 about 120 bucks.Thanks TLK.

On the same online parts vendor website you can see both the Bosch and BMW plugs together when you search for the part number. Both are Bosch ZMR-5-TPP-330 plugs for my '14.

Bosch brand: $ 8.90
BMW brand: $30.26

$30 USD spark plug?! Drive on past that nonsense.

I know,seems your paying nearly four times as much for a bm paint over!

So when I changed my intercoolers i did run the water while the car is off


Open the door and lock it with your finger from the edge of the door while it's open so don't close the door u could break it

Open the hood and open the 2 coolant sides under the hood fill it with coolant so the system when start there is already coolant

Then turn switch on and put the air conditioning on Manuel (no sync) and turn it all the way to the hottest degree and full power bars

Then push the gas all the way to the end for 10 second (while the car just on switch on not running) you will hear the cooling system started

Go outside of the car and start fill it till it's good to the level on 2 sides

The system will stop by it self after couple of minutes and done

So your door it's locked while it's open just hold the door handle and pull it to release the lock so u can close it without breaking your door lock

Some cars their battery are low so if the car turned off just connect battery and do the same thing from beginning

Do this at your own risk I have done it many times and no any issue
