Who out there is DME Tuned?

Hey guys, thinking of going the DME route. Who is DME tuned? Interested in your feedback; would like to know about the remote tuning experience, how the car felt after, longevity, etc.

Thanks!

I've had DME tunes on my F10 M5 for about 40K miles and now on my G12 750i. Overall, the tune has been great, it's a night and day difference over stock or any piggy back I've tried. I've been through a lot of trial and error with my F10 and DME by far was the best. At the time I tuned my F10 it had to be bench flashed so that required me to ship my ECU. With my G12, it was remote tuned and the experience was very easy. Mo walked me through all the steps and it was a breeze. Mo has been doing this for some time and has a lot of experience with our cars.

I haven't yet and may not ever, but if I were, a Steve Dinan tune via an open flash tablet is the way I would go. I had a custom tuned LS7 Z06 Corvette with heads and cam, and a GDE tune on my Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel, so I know full well the advantages of a good tune. My concern with the F10 M5 is just not to eat spark plugs at a higher rate, or burn up my clutches in the DCT in the lower gears with torque I couldn't lay down, anyways.

Thanks for the info and appreciate the comparison. Mo is the guy that posts under DME tuning Texas, right? He seems super knowledgeable on this platform. Pretty sure DME Stg 2 is in my future. I'm a little fearful of Stg3 though...

I hear ya, I'm currently on a dealer installed Stg1 Dinan piggyback. It's great, keeps the CPO intact and is smooth. But with those cars...you know how it is.

Definitely not looking to go too crazy w/ Tq. I want to keep these clutches happy for a while. Eventually, I'll go SSP.

I'm not sure honestly if it's Mo or his partner as it has partnered with a shop in TX. There is a DME Tuning page as well that he manages. Feel free to PM me and I can do an introduction to Mo by text.

I have had a good experience with DME, had Mo do a stage 2 on my f10 m5.
I'm running stock plugs gapped, supersprint race exhaust, otherwise factory. It runs really really strong and absolutely transformed the car from stock tune! Definetly recommend you give it a shot, DME won't disappoint you.

I'll be doing SSP Spec R clutches next (ordered!), as the torque is just too much for my original clutches(42k on the car) and I'd like to be able to reliably use the power.

Downpipes too as part of the Supersprint Exhaust?

No, its an axle back exhaust from supersprint. I also removed the charcoal filters FWIW..

Car put down 601rwhp/~705tq on a dynojet, 95F degree humid summer day last year. I was happy with that. Car is plenty fast!

Would love to hear from others that have actually hit a dyno with their cars (versus quoting what they read on the web ).

Once I go stg 2, I'll hit the dyno. I plan to do this after August as that's when my CPO is up. The plan is to dyno my car stock, then w/ the Dinan stg 1 "on" (you can turn it on/off via the bluetooth app), then again w/ stg2 + downpipes.

Plenty of heat and humidity in August in NC so I expect my numbers to be similar.

I've had more than one interaction with remote tuning to know that I'll never do it again.

In short, I had to go back and forth for almost 2 years and about 20 hrs of dyno time, not to mention all the $ i was forced to throw at the car just to find out that was not the issue and end up with a 90% tune. The car community stays quiet not to burn bridges, so this action goes on and on.

Cookie cutter tunes are ok, but they don't represent your specific conditions, no different that a piggy back. My two cents...
