BMW service.
Hi guys,
Just got my car back from Bmw (Lloyds) after a engine service, plugs, oil, filters, etc. Car has done 46105 miles and runs sweet (stock) When I picked it up I noticed on the paperwork it said 43850 miles…. I pointed this out to the girl taking my money and she says "well it must be right….. and placed my key in the key reader, sure enough 43850 miles shows on the key! BUT the car has done 46105 miles! Now no one at bmw noticed this and my paperwork shows the service (and I drive) being done at 43850 and obv car has done more… They oil serviced the car in June 2020 and mileage was 42300 ish and that was correct, but as this was not put into the idrive so there's only a paper record of that. So me driving the car off the forecourt means it's done 2300 miles straight away Bmw can't explain this, and now say they want the car back for a full day to "check things" even though they did a full health check when it was serviced : Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this mileage discrepancy?? The girl tried to blame it on short distance journeys which I instantly corrected her on as I use it for longer (60mins or more) journeys regularly. Tia I want the mileage on my history to be correct for obvious reasons |

The key read data has likely not updated/pulled info from the car in a long time. The key read print out should say the last time it pulled data from the car.

and I had recently fitted some Proram long life air filters and that knocked another £150 off so the total was £648 but only plugs and not coil packs were changed, they wanted another £650 alone for just the coil packs ![]() |

I changed my own oil and use Edge 0W40, A3/B4 with a Bosch filter which I prefer as it has an extra guaze filter at the end; then took it into berry's dealer to have diff oil changed after 3 years with an MOT all okay, was £167. Could wait for it , took about 2.5 hour and got a stamp in my service book. Last edited by M5Rick; 08-06-2021 at 01:40 PM.. |

: they apparently supply the filter to ensure there's no issues further down the line….. pretty sure everything with them is a cash cow! They advised my wipers aren't 100% and wanted £58 to change them needless to say I've ordered some Bosch blades and will change myself for £21.00 Sounds like you got a great deal Rick, rear diff service for me next time….. |

Yes the receipts for the oil and filters are with the yearly MOT's and BMW invoices for other things like the diff oil changes, brake fluid etc and the VHC's all folded in yearly batches with the service book on top of the BMW wallet.
