What oil temp do you run at?
Just creating this thread out of curiosity with the new mishimoto parts coming out, to see what temperature everyone run's at usually, I run at a decent 90-105 C which equates to around 190-220 F at around 70-80 degree weather with a fairly spirited drive.
What temperature do you guys run at? |

I’d say I’m right around the same during the summer months. I reached out to Mishimoto to find out if they had any data on oil temps with their cooler vs stock but no reply as of yet. With all the R&D info they posted one would think this would’ve been tested but who knows. Nonetheless I’ll do my own before/after test once I get mine. I’m sure one of you guys will beat me to it, though.

Going off the gauge, I'd say 195-200 for normal, non-freeway cruising. Freeway (at least in the summer) is closer to 215-220F, same for hitting it hard on the street. Highest I got on track was around 240-245F, but it was also only 60-65F ambient and I had to let off on the straights. It would easily pass that on a summer day or with better brakes.
We don't know what temps it hits in certain areas while in circulation, but the 220F sump temp people are hitting on the streets is not that hot. Obviously no harm in keeping it a bit cooler, and for an M car it's relatively cheap insurance, but I see the main benefit being on track.

I think folks arE just reading the gauge on the dash. If you want to see a digital readout, including coolant temp, you can go to the secret menu.
If you don't know how to get there, hold down the trip reset button until a menu comes up. Then press it to cycle through the options to Unlock. Hold it again until it asks for a code and then press it enough times to get the counter to the sum of the last two digits of your VIN. |

be careful not to run the oil too cool. You need to reach around 100C or 212F to flash off moister out of the oil. The sump temperature will be slightly lower than maximum oil temperature but be careful not to overcool. There is also a thermostat in the system to control the oil temperature.

Thanks guys. Im fully aware of the secret code menu but that's way more button pushing than I like. I was hoping someone would say they're using P3 or Awron vent gauges.

Yeah, that dodge thing is pretty cool. I have CarPlay too but it's on the stock system.
You could probably program it into an app, that'd be awesome to see live. |
