Second hand DCT Flywheel and Clutch

Hey everyone,

My 2012 BMW M5 has a transmission fault (won’t start when it’s warm otherwise keeps on stalling) my local mechanic inspected the gearbox and told me the flywheel seems to be damaged and it ruined the crankshaft positioning sensor (broke the old one and the new one fitted) just wondering has anyone used a second hand flywheel and clutch for M5 I know it’s not a good idea however the dealership cannot find any stock within the whole country so have to import straight from Germany and it’s quite a long wait but there’s plenty of second hand ones I can find here and pickup for cheap just don’t know if it can work out well also is it necessary to replace the clutch with the flywheel if it’s not worn out too much I’ve heard some owners say it’s not necessary any help is appreciated.

Thanks

That's all okay but why would the second hand dual mass flywheel and the two clutches be removed in the first place.

I think it could be from cars that installed upgraded clutch units or from cars that were written off in a crash

Go ahead if after inspection you feel the unit is kosher, I found this clip of that set up and it's a complex piece of kit consisting of two flywheels working independently of each other as stated.
