Highest Mileage Tuned vs Stock
Post your mileage and tuned or stock without any major repairs. No forged anything, no rods no bearings etc. all original stock internals ONLY
I’m pretty sure I have the lowest mileage F10 M5 I just clicked over 6k original miles and I’ve decided to start modding. I went with BPMSport as Mike has an impeccable reputation and I more go after quality over quantity (price). Just for science let’s start a running thread to see reliability of well maintained Stock vs Tuned Motors 6k miles.. 153k, mechanically everything is stock. Three inches of maintenance paperwork for longevity. Used to be my daily, now that I work from home, it just sits for the most part. I just have aftermarket wheels, blacked out pieces and aftermarket front and rear lights. I'm looking fwd to over 200k miles so I can have the most mechanically sound high mileage F10 M5.

Our mileage are opposite ends of the spectrum. Alignments, real axle service a few times, windshield wipers, brake fluids multiple times, rotors and pads a few times (more pads than rotors), spark plugs and coils about 4 times, lots of oil changes, lug bolts, replaced cowl piece, did the front bumper twice, windshield once, coolant hoses, lots of air filters, fixed a broken paddle shifter, cabin filter, battery, full a/c replacement, lower oil pan replacement, high pressure fuel pump. There is more, I'd have to go through the paperwork more, I was just looking at my spreadsheet up about 10k miles ago and I know that I've done some since (edit, did a DME tune/update a few thousand miles ago, it went into limp mode, INDY said DME needed an update. It made a small performance difference and the exhaust was richer smelling). I believe I've had 14 service appointments for various things to fix or maintain since I purchased in 2017. Next is suspension and DCT stuff. So far they are holding up, my INDY guy says the clutch is expensive.
Part of my paperwork is for 2 times I ran something over and had to replace undercarriage items, windshield replacement, paint work, installation of aftermarket parts like lighting and some other mild stuff. I'm sure there is more. The car looks like it has 10k miles though and you get out of it what you put into it. Last edited by m760iM5; 05-23-2025 at 01:45 AM.. |

At night, so I'll keep the pics to a min. I just got the lights installed and I was hoping the blue would show up, but it didn't so I just attached a photo showing the new front headlights when off (I really like the blue light at the top and I can add more pics after I do a day shoot), you can see the 275/35s (10" width) in the front on my cheap aftermarket rims, the 315/30s in the back (11" width) and the rear lights that are new. The front and rear lights resemble an F90 LCI, so I thought I'd give it a try.

All stock, I've had it 8 years and just a failed a/c condenser under warranty when I bought it, with nearly yearly oil/filter changes at BMW dealer, pushing it this year going on 5k miles since last oil change but want to twin the oil change with the yearly safety test all together. It's had just one spark plug change 8k miles ago when it was going into creep mode temporarily when being pushed and that's about it. Air filters, brake pads and tires I do myself so to answer you there have been no big mechanical repairs on it, I know tuning is big with some enthusiasts but this car is plenty quick with me as it is and BMW dealers here don't like servicing tuned cars. If they do work on your tuned car then I don't think you get that 2 year parts/labour warranty as you would on a stock one.

I've got a 2015 with around 43k KM (26k Miles)
I've owned it nearly 4 years, about 10k miles on it in that time. I've done 4 oil changes, intakes, BM3 Stage 1 tune, Tires, plugs. I don't drive a lot but I drive it relatively hard, 6 months a year, but very thankful I've had zero issues outside of routine/preventative maintenance.
