2013 M5 A/C issue in socal

Has anyone had their condenser and/or compressor replaced in socal? Had the system recharged and then it leaked rather quickly, the radioactive dye was traced to a plastic line/connection to the compressor.

It’s hot in socal, I’m short on funds and I need to find a solution- haven’t been able to drive my kids anywhere.

It's usually the condenser that leaks then the a/c gradually fails, like mine did when I first bought the car and yes on the hottest day too. In your case an o-ring seal may have failed in a connecting pipe to the compressor if that's from where the gas leak was emanating from or the pipe is simply worn out or cracked. You have to track down that replacement pipe and get your a/c mechanic to fit it and then re-gas the system if you don't want to take it to your nearest BMW service centre.

Thank you for the reply! I called the shop I had charge the system, for the 2nd time- they did confirm the condenser had signs of a crack/leak. I poked around on the forum and it seems that’s the ‘easier’ part to diy than compressor. Do you have a link for a good resource to replace this on my own? I’m fairly competent mechanically and happy to give it a try.

I always use Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa, CA. At 142k miles I had the a/c recharged for $180. That didn't work and at 144k miles I replaced the air conditioning condenser $1156.
