Fuel Pump Control Module Issue

Looking to see if anyone’s experienced something similar. A few days ago while cruising on the highway, I got a fuel system malfunction warning and the car went into limp mode. After pulling over and shutting it off, it wouldn’t start—just stuttered and died. Scanned with BimmerLink and got code 481B05: Fuel Pump Control Module – Speed is missing.

Towed the car home. Wouldn't start that night. Two days later, it started fine and drove without issue.

I picked up a used EKPM3 module (same part number as what was in the car: 16147426094) from a crashed 2015 M3 on eBay. I noted that RealOEM lists 16147411595 as the correct part for my car. The one already installed looked like it may have been replaced previously.

Installed the used module, but ran into issues coding it in E-Sys—the “Code” option was grayed out. I noticed there was a new code when installing the new module: 481B0D - Crash cut-out, battery positive. Can I not code the module to my car if it has previously been in a crash? Either way I decided to try to start the car and it started right up and drove with no issues.

Questions:

Should I expect the EKPM3 to fail again or overheat on longer drives?

Is it okay to keep using the module that matches what was already in the car, or should I switch to the RealOEM-specified part?

Should I bring it to a shop for proper coding since E-Sys isn’t working and the replacement module is off of an F80?
