Front brake pad clicking and movement

I just installed powerstop z26 pads over the weekend and used their new anti rattle clip and i was hearing clicking at slow speeds when pressing the pedals. As well as front clunking which sounds like suspension but there was 0 clunking prior to pad install.

I remved the pads and again and installed the stock rattle clip thinking its better but still same clicking and clunking.

Is the pad supposed to have any play ? Should i change out the 2 pins? Could those be the fault?

I have z26 on my g05 x5 with 0 issues so i dont know what’s going on here

I had clicking with squeal and it's all gone now. Should be no play at all, look on my posts on the F10 M5 DIY Guides. Changing out the pins and springs for new are a must with liberal anti-squeal paste applied as mentioned.

I recently fitted new low dust TWR pads to replace the very dusty textar ones and it's after I applied the anti squeal paste supplied with the spring/pin kit I purchased, #21 post on the other thread, on the calliper pad slide points that stopped the clicking, it's like a cushion together with the new stronger springs locating the pads eliminating all noises. If you look closely on the M stamped suspension arms you will see they are made by TWR also, which is why I chose those pads for front and back.

Ill check it out thanks!

Strange thing is, i re did my whole brake job and put back the original spring ( 3year old) thinking the new one is not good material and thats why its making the clicking.

The driver side i can move the pad left and right with my fingers and In thinking it has to be the pin not keeping it place tight enough?

The passenger side has very slight movement left and right compared to driver.

But could my main culprit be the pins? I should change those first to see before removing the whole brakes again.

(How does a pin go bad tho? It looked fine and fit snug but im assuming some of the metal ate throught and lost material?)

Compare the pad dimensions with the old one, the length, pin fit into the holes etc, the pads you bought are not OEM I think so worth doing this.

I compared them yesterday when I did it for the 2nd time and they looked good, I dont want to do it a 3rd time just for the same result haha... I should buy new pins and retainer clips and then do everything at once or else Im putting back my stock pads and calling it a day

Thanks brother! I just found it, I was looking at the Brakes forum..

I saw your pins and brackets, thats how mine looked, I cleaned them with wire brush so they look better but I guess I have to change them.. I hope I can get away with the pins only so I dont have to do a brake job again....

Glad you found it bgalex and hope it will help you out.Like I did you'll probably have to remove the pads again to smear the a/squeal paste or copper grease in the places I suggested to completely eradicate the annoying click.
