MOT and oil service time
Visit to my usual service agent in Redhill for MOT and oil service went okay while I waited 3 hours keeping fit walking around the air-conditioned upper waiting room section I had all to myself
with plenty of drinks, my own sandwiches and tv.I took it in 4 weeks before the expiry date of MOT so I'm sure you know that you can have it tested earlier (used to be 2 weeks) which then gives you 13 full months leeway before the next expiry date. They also give you this free 'health check' sheet on top with a vid as you may also know reporting with the car up on ramp, the suspension, exhaust, brakes, wheel bearings etc and tyres visually are in good condition with no foreign objects or bulges, good to know for stress free summer motoring. While there they replaced the cabin micro filters also as the old ones had been in place for at about 6 years. Last edited by M5Rick; 07-02-2025 at 08:41 AM.. |

About oil change times.
This vid is not lying about having your oil (and the oil filter of course) changed at around the 5000 mile mark on your M5, manufacturers recommendations of 10k to 15k miles are just too many miles on these and can cause a malfunction if oil is too old, even f/s oil properties start wearing out before long. For $ change to £ ! ..and get your service book stamped for a trouble free service history, these cars weigh nearly 2 tons so you might decide not to do it yourself and the safest way is on a dealer's ramp. I time it with the MOT and any other things I may want done like brake fluid change, spark plugs etc at the same time to save you coming back again. Last edited by M5Rick; 08-08-2025 at 09:25 AM.. |
