Excellent! Did you at least get a "Route 1 Mile 0" sticker?

And EPIC ride brother! I'm quite jealous (in a good way).

Thanks and no sticker! I didn’t know there was such a thing!

Not sure if I posted on this site but my entire ride was from the upper midwest to Phoenix to Key West. Sea level to 10,000 feet then back down! 3 weeks, 4 seasons and more than 6,000 miles on the bike. It was great! Lots of experiences and stories.

Still mending my nets here in the southern Florida warmth and contemplating a run to SoCal then Sequoia then ??? But life has some pots on the stove and I need to see if anything comes to a boil.

This is one of my favorite pics of my Valkyrie. To set this up, this was the first ride after a long hiatus from August 2003 to April 2004 when the Valk was land-locked. The bridge was new and just finished in April 2004 after the flood of August 2003 that took out our whole front yard and the Corps of Engineers decided to "move" the river, which necessitated the new bridge.

We had just got back after a few hours out only to find this grand 'ole snapper touring the freshly rebuilt grounds. We let the pups out of the house and this was their first encounter with a snapping turtle (they were 6 months old). The pic prior to this one was of them smelling the turtle's butt. The turtle moved and the pups flinched.

Yeah, I was digging for a pic I have of the Valk with the Mile 0 sticker on the front fender and found the pics above, so I decided to share them.

What a great ride. I hope the soon-to-arrive Beamer will assist in some similar travels in the coming years.

Bigjet, any chance you rode your buddy's K1600? I'd be curious to have your thoughts on it.

I've only ridden it a couple of times.

Overall impression? It's one *hell* of a bike, and it will snap your head back from the sheer acceleration.

Basically, it takes out ANYTHING H-D or Indian has on offer in the form of a touring bike. There is simply NO comparison.

A few things--

1. The peg positions are pretty tight, making a severe bend in the knees. I installed a set of peg extenders and that made a world of difference. Same with the handlebars-- pull-back models are a must. The shield? Meh. Easily fixed with an aftermarket version then.

2. The BMW nav system that you use through your phone is sort of "meh"-- but there's no place (on the latest models) to really mount a Garmin.

3. The sound system is pretty weak-- ok for slow cruise, but pretty useless after that. I use a Cardo on my GS, so I'm unsure why anybody would even want speakers on a bike though.

4. It's a HEAVY beast. It corners like a freight train though.

All in all? Like I said..... it's one HELL of a bike.

Thank you. You make a lot of the same observations some of the reviews I've read on line report, so thanks for the confirmations. I ride a 1999 Valkyrie Interstate, so a heavy bike that "corners like a freight train" is normal to me*. I've been looking for an equivalent replacement for the Valk and it seems the K1600B will fit the bill.

And yes I am disappointed BMW went away from integrated Garmin navigation units. The phone integration is just unnecessary IMO, but Honda does it on the Goldwing. Considering we ride on bikes to get off the grid, using a phone that requires the grid to fully operate as a nav unit seems not well thought out.

*Going through the specs today, the K1600B is 72 pounds lighter than the Valkyrie. Even better, the K1600 has a power-to-weight ratio close to my 1990 CBR1000F; 4.4 lbs.-HP for the Beemer vs. 3.9 for the Hurricane.

Thanks again.

My buddy had a Valkyrie and got a K1600B too! He sold the Valkyrie because he wasn't riding it much and hated seeing it just sitting around, but regrets it now.

I am keeping my Valk. I've had it for 26 years, it's like a pet to me at this point.

Reposting...

So, my discussion with chassis these past few months rekindled my desire to look at getting a new machine after 26 great years with the Valkyrie. I started looking a few years ago and planned on a purchase in 2025. Then we had a river flood event in May 2025 that cost me basically the price of two new bikes to repair the aforementioned bridge, so I nixed the idea of a buying new scooter earlier this year. Then the chassis chronicles postings in this thread these past few months led to a "WTF, why not?" event.

Awaiting delivery. 28% off MSRP for a left-over, demonstrator, K1600B. Probably the last of the BMW naturally-aspirated in-line 6, manual transmission'd BMWs.

(Dealership pic of my new scooter) - best I can do for now.

My buddy has the 2023 Grand America version of that bike.

It's a hoot.

Here are a few suggestions if you decide to "farkle" the bike..... All are highly recommended:

Remus pipes
7 Jurok shield w/ vent
Road 6 tires
BT flash tune
Sprinter air filter
T-Rex front & rear crash bars
Foot peg lowering brackets
Side-stand enlarger
Yellow fog light covers
Grip Puppies
Shift peg extender
Brake pedal extender
Battery side covers
Oil cooler cover
Battery tender connector
