Remember the Turbo STARTS at 136k (the prefigured "sport" version ends up at 154k) and the Turbo S starts at 173k (sport at 176k), so really these cars do not seem to be in the same league as the M5 (I hope). I just watched a rerun of top gear comparing the Maserati quattrosporte, the Panamera turbo and the Aston 4 door (forget the name). These are 4 seater super cars. IMO different than the M5. BMW didn't intend for the M5 to be in super car category. Currently, BMW doesn't make a super car. |

How on earth CTS-V could be a big rival to BMW, MB or Audi? Maybe there in States, but Cadillac is just one huge joke and I don't see anyone buying that crap in Europe. BMW's interior is clear win out of these three

For me the Bmw is a clear winner also. A dream family car. Kids to the back seat and to the track. I drove the new CLS 63 AMG yesterday with the new 5.5 TT V8 (Performance package), on a wet track, and what an engine and the sound, like a storm. It has so much torgue that tracktion is the biggest problem. SLS AMG was still nicer, faster and noisier. But still I would probably take the new M5 over CLS. Cadillac is irrelevant here in Europe, but Jag is playing in the same league as Merc and Bmw.

Panamera T/TS > M5 ? E63 > CTS-V
M5 and E63 is nearly a toss up and matter of personal taste. Only if you are unbiased. They both have pros and cons, almost equally. M5 got the agility, while the E63 has the low-end and raw torque. Interior and exterior is matter of sporty vs luxury, list goes on. Even the sound of both vehicles come down to matter of preference. Some prefers low pitched growling V8 roar, while some prefers more sporty and high pitched M5 tone.

BTW I don't like the Panamera in terms of exterior design. I'd choose the M5 in a heartbeat. A bit biased I know.... |

did no one notice the m5 is 6 inchs or so narrower than the MB....how the hell did that happen, imagine what the track width difference is... im sure the m5 will smash the other round the track but if it were 6ish inchs wider with something like the 1series M flared arches...now that would look menacing....anyone wanna do a photoshop???

Isnt it amazing how MB have somewhat gone the ways of Caddy and gone with the more angular/hard lines styling approach.
I still think the BMW wins in styling, and I would take it over the MB of Caddy any day. |

whats the deal with the weight of the cars, all have a different method, whats the real comparison weight, because I doubt the M5 weighs 4200 lbs curb, unless its got a lot more light weight material than listed, the 550i has a curb weight of 4586 lbs by Edmunds. CTS-v weighs 4222 according to Edmunds and Mercedes E63 4058. any info on this?

I find it funny how many people try to trash the CTS-V. Sure, if you don't like how it looks that's one thing, but if you're only judging from photos then your opinion is null. If anyone here thinks they can knock the V's performance, well then your opinion is, again, null.
I'd be willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of people who try to talk crap about the V haven't ever sat in one, let alone experienced how it is to drive one. This automotive elitism, this cheesy forced act of, "oh Cadillac means nothing, just garbage, my X is so much better", well it just comes off as insecurity. I'm admitting that the M5 will probably be the superior car, and it is for that reason that I plan on buying one. In all reality, though, the V sedan and coupe are head and shoulders above anything that BMW currently offers in terms of performance and value. So basically, if you haven't driven a V hold your tongue. If you have, well then you'd know it is a world class car with a fantastic engine and a very nice interior (except for that crap-ass gloss black console..). I get shouted at and stopped and accosted every time I take the car out, people love it and want to know what it is. A fine ass girl pulled up next to me yesterday and started to tell me how much she liked my car and how sexy I look in it lol. That never happened in my 335i, and it wouldn't happen in an E60 M5. /rant When does the M5 arrive? I'm ready to get back into a BMW.
