Melbourne Red X5M - Just picked it up!

After waiting two months for my X5M, it has finally arrived. Thanks again David and Jared at BMW Portland!

I traded my 640 Gran Coupe in for this. I loved the car, but it was a hassle to drive, and was not enjoyable on a day to day basis. What I love about the X5M is that it's two cars in one: comfortable SAV, and then a monster of a "car" when it wants to be.

I was cross shopping this and the GLE63S Coupe. Only reason I picked the X5M over the GLE is because it is a whole different motor, and will hold its value better!

Here are some quick pictures I took:

Going to miss the 6

I hope the average goes up!

Looks great! I wonder if we crossed paths this afternoon, as I was there to pick up my i3.

Congrats!

I am curious -- what was it about the 640 that made it a pain to drive daily?

A few things: The RFT's, they would grab the grooves on the highway, and instead of slightly adjusting the steering, it would dart in between the lane. It is a very low, wide and long car, so parking in normal spots would be an issue because you don't want to hit the front bumper, and you don't want anyone hitting your rear, so me being picky already, I would find the biggest corner spot I could. The seats would get uncomfortable after 4 hour drives (I drive a lot) so I would just get physically tired of just trying to keep the car in its lane, and the seats didn't help at all.

Other than that I loved the car. It is not something you see everyday and it looks absolutely stunning! I was actually going to get an M6 coupe or another gran coupe, but didn't want the same style car with just more power.

Absolutely gorgeous car. So happy for you. I can say that I actually felt a burst of joy when you took delivery because you've kept us informed during this process. Congrats!

I have to say the side shots in the wooded area are amazing. The MR looks phenomenal on the lines of the car. Enjoy.

I am really surprised that MR color isn't more popular on the forums. This is the first one i've seen on here and it looks awesome!

Need those IND gloss black trims to remove all that clashing chrome pieces stat. I would have the calipers redone in a different color too. The blue and red just clashes hard.

I agree!

I would have them painted Melbourne Red and it would look totally clean and classy!!
