Winter Tire help
Hello,
I am looking to get winter tires for the X5M, however i am not sure if i should go 295/40/21 or 295/35/21 for the pirelli scorpion winters. Also do you recommend that i go the same size front and rear? link- http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....cleSearch=true |

I don't know if they are 'new' but I noticed that there are DWS06 tires in 295/35/21...
Wondering if anyone has these or put them on their factory 21" wheels for the winter.

The car is actually new so it's being delivered with the 295's on it so I wouldn't be able to give a comparison to the PSS's until spring when they would be put on

So your car is being delivered with Pirellis on your 21" wheel? If so, did your dealer give you this option? Are they winters or all season?

OP: What wheels are you putting these on? Sounds like you're trying to fit 295 into the stock rear 11.5" wide wheels, which would be a stretch.

i tried a set of michelin x-ice2 (285/40r20 i think) on the 20x10/20x11 wheels. the fronts fit great. despite several who said they would fit (michelin, tire rack) the rears were so stretched for width they left the edge of the wheel exposed. didn't like this at all so went with 275front and 315back ultimately.

295 all around is too narrow for the OEM rear 21x11.5". This is what I recommend.

I got the Pirellis for my 21s in stock sizes. Got the tires months ago. Havent had a reason to switch out yet as the weather has been so warm. I would guess in the next couple weeks, I'll make the switch. I dont understand the stretch look. Why?

I have to agree with JNoSol when he questions the use of size 295 tires all around on the stock 21" rims. For those attempting this, what is your purpose in doing so? What do you believe to be gained from using inappropriately sized tires for these rims, when there are correct sized tires easily procured?
