Already read the article. Pretty good writeup, and I can't say I fault them for their decision. I'd personally go with the SVR out of the group, on account of the X6's looks and diminished usability. Be a different story if we're talking X5.
Not a huge fan of the other two. I'd save a load of dough and buy a Grand Cherokee SRT. |

Kind of what poster above said.
I would take.... None. X5 M for me or the Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk coming out next year as the Grand Cherokee SRT is becoming a bit long in tooth for me. ** we almost pulled the trigger on one not to long ago trading in my wifes JGC Altitude edition. But after reading the news about the Track Hawk and all of the updates coming to the next Gen Jeep Grand Cherokee we are on hold for now. while the X6M is a badass I just cant get past the looks and its inferior cargo space.

The first vehicle I ever drove that really shook the foundations of that stance was a Ford Raptor. Huge, heavy, high off the ground- this thing can't possibly be fun to drive, I thought. Wrong. It was a riot. Several vehicles since then- the aforementioned Cherokee SRT, a TRD supercharged Tundra, a ProCharged SC Silverado, among others- have reinforced that notion. Do they replace or replicate the sensations of driving a lightweight, agile stick shift roadster? Of course, not. But they are a very different kind of fun in their own right. There's just something delightfully enjoyable about a vehicle that pummels physics and expectations into submission. I can see how someone who has to deal with shitty roads, speed bumps, driveways, etc, etc would find something these attractive as a regular driver. |

Oh, absolutely. But no interest in taking one to the track. It's cool that they can do it, like a GTR, but they just don't speak to me at all. Still fun to see them and even fun to see them at the track.
And Raptors are awesome, if I had any use for one, I'd love to have one. |

Yeah, if I had the means for one of these vehicles, I'd have a dedicated toy for back road/track use. I'd think these behemoths would have to go through a set of tires in pretty short order on a track.

Melbourne Red X5M for me. The good news is that they depreciate like rocks, so it's always a possibility I'll have one in the distant future.

What this article really pointed out to me - the M3 is a joke. BMW's top sedan got beat by their own SUV. I'd venture to say the M4, BMW's current top performer, isn't much if any better than their SUV.
I'd still rather have the Porsche out of the whole group. Performs well and I can trust it to tow (they are known for being great tow rigs). Then I have a SUV that can haul ass, people, gear and my boat. |

How did the M3 get beat by the X6M? Please don't say 0-60. The awd of the X6M enables that awesome 3.7 figure. If the M3 were awd, it would be in the mid 3s range. The M3/4 traps higher and runs any road course faster, thus is a better performer....unless we want to reference towing capability or cargo capacity.

Something very off with the cayenne numbers. It is ~113 trap car and should be fastest around the track since it does hold the record for fastest Ring lap on an SUV by far (turbo S is 7:59 and x6m is 8:20, not even remotely close). Same should hold true on any other track too. Granted the car is at the end of its lifecycle and quite old at this point but the new one should be out soon and be ready to regain its title as SUV King.
A shame they won't stick 550-600 hp on a macan. Unfortunately the x6m can't outrun it's hideous looks. |

Just like it's a shame they won't stick 400+ hp on a Cayman.

I think you missed the bit about the X6M actually being quicker than the M3 around Willow Springs...but only by a little.

As a side note, doesn't this thing trap as fast as your JB4/DP/E85 or meth 435i?

Sort of like the old Syclone and Typhoon. Even our old X1 35i was good at surprising sporty cars.

I think the next gen m5 will be crazy if its 600hp, awd and can keep the weight down below 4000lbs which is doable. |
