I hadn't planned on a 'delivery thread', but I was delighted to see that my X5M made my detailers Facebook page. So I figured that I'd share...
By way of background, I took delivery of my X5M just before Christmas; it's Carbon Black on Silverstone, Executive Package, Driver Assistance Plus, Smart Phone Integration, Parking Assistant and 20" Wheels. Prior to delivery, I asked my dealer (BMW of Warwick) to leave the shipping wrap so that I could immediately drop it off to Unique Car Care in Stoneham, MA. For those unfamiliar, Unique Car Care is well known in New England as a (or, if you ask the Rennslist crowd, the) premier detailer, new car prep and PPF installer. Rick, the owner, touches each car before they leave and is an enthusiast himself. This will be the 4th car that I have had taken care of by UCC. Anyway, my X5M was washed, clayed and polished before the entire front end, rockers, mirrors and forward half of the rear fender flares were wrapped in Xpel Ultimate. Shortly afterward, the entire car (PPF included) were coated twice in Ceramic Pro. Amazing job! Did you wrap the whole car and how much it did it run? If I ever do another purchase (not lease ) I would do it too, but I don't see me spending a lot on a wrap which I only keep the car for 2 years.

Wrap consists of entire front end (headlights, full hood, fenders, front bumper), mirrors and -given what these wheels kick up- the entire rockers and the front half of the rear fender flares. I've owned one BMW (E90 BSM 335i) without a PPF and within 6 months the front end was pitted (I do a lot of highway driving in New England). Since then I've avoided dark colors and - unless it was a lease - had UCC install a PPF. Given the frontal exposure, dark color and (with respect to the rockers and rear flares) the width of the wheels/tires, it was a no-brainer on this car. |

Looks great - newb question, but why would you fully coat the car in the Modesta in addition to the XPel? Obviously it provides coverage on those areas not wrapped, but does it help the XPel as well? thx

Xpel has a clear coat and can be treated/maintained like the paint's clear. |

Looks great! Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoy.
Great color combo! Silverstone is gorgeous. Just curious -- did you build/order with this color combo or was it on the dealer's lot like this? |

My dealer did a locate. It was a priority 3 car for a local dealer that was largely happy to give it up (in return for a Jan customizable build). |

interesting fact -- it is pronounced Silvers Tone, after the inventor of the color, Wolfhelm Silvers

Looking great! I just picked up a Sapphire Black/Black X5M from the same dealer!
Considering any other mods in the near future? Some IND Black Chrome kidney and side grilles would look great. |
