What are the 'MUST HAVE' options on the X5M?
Starting to price out various X5Ms and look at their option lists - what are your must have options on the car that you consider a 'must' (outside of what comes standard)?
Any options you did not get you wish you did? Or vice versa you thought it was a must have but decided it did not add much to the car? I definitely like the bang & olufsen and heads up display is a must for me as well (I know thats part of one of the packages) Any input is appreciated! |

Unless it is required for pedestrian and animal detection, I would say night vision is not a necessity.
Full leather is a must for me, the interior is so nice. I'm still on the fence about the B&O, but that may be my fault for expecting to have my mind blown from day one, rather than breaking in the stereo and ending up with something nice....we shall see. I'll add another vote for the HUD, too. Pass on the smartphone integration. Basically, both US packages (driver assistance plus, executive) have items that are "mandatory". B&O is the only true Option I would consider.

I would pass too on the park assist. You're buying the car to drive it, not park it. (Besides, who parallel parks anyway?) Get everything else. At a minimum, get both packages. I have the B&O. I would get it again. I have the rear entertainment too. My son loves it. |

Great! Thanks everybody for the input so far I think I'm starting to get an idea of what to look for.
For the 'full leather' option - what surfaces are covered in leather on that, or better yet, whats excludes if I do not choose it? |

I would skip BO next time if I had more seat hearing it. I just coded off ASD and it the system sounds much better but not really impressed by it. I have heard that the HK actually sounds pretty good
Vote for HUD, exec package If you have black interior then full leather is really hard to tell you even have it. Kind of waste |

I have every options available on my F85, even including the stupid rear seat entertainment. I can never use them, but I must have them.

For me Night Vision unexpectedly turned out as a must have.
I had included it just for the curiosity of experimenting with an infrared camera but, during some months of night driving, it warned me about many living (meaning warm, IR-visible) beings, a few before I had seen them. It is specially useful in variable lighting (say, far spaced street lights) where intermediate dark areas may hide people and dogs. In the European version it flashes a thin but strong light beam exactly in that direction, warning both the driver and the obstacle -- very effective! If it helps avoiding just one hit during the car's life, that option paid for itself many times. |

Driver Assistance Plus, Executive Package, Full Leather, and B&O. On wheel size, go with 21s since you don't see much snow in AZ. If you live in the snow belt, then get 20s to use for the winter and after market 22s for the summer. 21s are just an odd size to get tires.

This was an option that I never thought I'd ever use, but seeing as how I bought my X5M from a dealer that had a cancelled order, I got what was ordered on the car. Pretty much everything except for the B&O (standard sound is good) and the rear entertainment. Never use the parking assist, but the Night Vision has come in handy a couple of times now in poor visibility conditions. It identifies objects in Yellow well before you ever see them which has been good when driving in foggy conditions where people are walking pets or running. Just my .02 cents... Quote:

I'm confused, I thought full leather is standard, and you just choose the color unless you going individual for different color options. On my window sticker, the aragon brown is a no cost item.
Or this only applies for U.S. market?
