BMC air filters- anyone planning to upgrade

I guess I got the mod bug. BMc just released their direct replacement filters. No promises or more power but considering if intake and turbo spool noise changes

Anyone had any previous turbo cars with drop in replacement filter that can comment about sound

Only cone type of airfilter and larger tube would really make a difference in sound. I don't think you can notice the difference by just changing a drop in filter. I never notice any diffenent on the K&N filters that I put in any of my previous vehicles, so I stop using it. Plus oil type filter supposed to be bad got turbo motors.

I saw a post on Instagram from the Middle East exclusive BMC distributor. These manufactures are usually very slow to update their sites.

The filters due look very similar to the f15 5.0 engine. They might of figured out that they work on both cars

I have them on my M5 along with RPI scoops and I also deleted the charcoal filters. Don't know if our trucks have the charcoal but I'm in for this mod. Always do it and I wanna say the motor has to breathe better. No evidence but it's a cheap and easy mod. Definitely effective on M5 with downpipes and exhaust. I'm in.

All OEM filters will have top-end limitations with a tune. A tune demands the turbos to produce more boost, demanding higher volume of air than the OEM filters are spec'd to do.

In stock form, you're not going to see any benefit by upgrading your filters/intakes. With a tune, the gains are exponential.

On the F80 forum, some dyno results are staggering at peak RPM (comparing OEM vs after market, with a tune).

Btw with drop in filters? Same surface areas how much better it can breathe?

After market filters have larger pores, allowing more air through. The catch is, more dirt will flow through as well.

I found these pictures of BMC filters. But as I recall, there was some complaint about the amount of oil they carry. I believe one person kept it on paper towels for a day or so to decrease the amount of oil it has.

Now in terms of performance, I already have Racechip running E setup and Akra exhaust so I am hoping that it will give me a kick and help balance air fuel ratio.

I've had them for about 3000miles now, but I did JB4, catless downpipes and BMC filters all at the same time. Didnt notice anymore turbo noise from engine area, just from the back end due to the catless downpipes. So I wouldn't buy them if it was the only thing you plan on doing.

They are nice and a reasonable upgrade. I just recently changed them out for the Dinan intake and stage 2. If you lived in metro Detroit I would probably give you mine. Cost me around $250 and have around 5000 miles on them. Overall I can recommend them
