Sapphire Black / Silverstone X5M

Had to visit my dealer today to get something sorted and stumbled across this X5M in the showroom.

It caught my eye as i'd been considering a very similar Sapphire/Silverstone F80 M3 when I bought my X5 M50d.

For practicality reasons however I had to go with the X5.

I must say, i'm severely tempted to upgrade from the M50d (which is 3 months old and only done 5000km...).

Naturally i'm considering all the same things which pointed me toward the M50d over the 50i (fuel consumption, etc).

As much as I love the M50d as an overall package, it's certainly missing the atmosphere of the V8.

Yeah absolutely.

Didn't go with the above car in the end.

Found a Carbon Black / Mugello Red.

I understand that it might be too similar to your car now but I prefer the black with silverstone. Looks amazing in my opinion.

The carbon black w/ red combo is one of those get tired of combos for me. They're both I like it but wouldn't own it colors for me. Put them together and I'm looking at a 1 year lease max. Ha. But then again, given your M50 that might be where you're at. I've gone through new cars every year phases in the past.

lol, the M50d lasted 3 months I think - though I typically switch cars every 3 years. In Australia it is FAR too expensive to get out of them sooner on a lease. It's really just nuts how much we pay for cars in the first place, and how little they're worth immediately after purchase. Had I not bought the M50d at a ridiculous sum to begin with, the switch wouldn't happen.

I hear you on the interior, however in hindsight, the Silverstone interior would have been infinitely harder to maintain with a 1.5 year old. I came from an Audi SQ5 initially with White exterior and black/red interior with carbon and I absolutely loved it. That's why I was so excited when this Carbon/Mugello option came up. Carbon has always been one of my favourite exterior colours and the colour i'd have chosen on the M50d had it been available. When I think of Carbon black, I go back to the E46 M3 with Carbon/Cinnamon combination. If I was doing a factory order on the X5M, it most likely would have been Carbon Black/Aragon.

I have a sapphire black with ivory napa so you know my taste. I have a 2 year old and was a bit nervous about the interior. I just bought some good leather cleaner though and use it once a month. takes 5 minutes. Looks like new 5 months in.

How long is the wait time for a special order in Australia?
