My M5 died a hero, now comes a Porsche Turbo S (until the all wheel next M5 arrives)
Hi dear friends of the forum,
Me well I'm very very sad, my girlfriend had an accident with our BMW M5 two days ago and now the car is scrap. She didn't get one scratch and that's all that matters but my dear car paid the ultimate price and died a hero. She had the accident because she catched a bit of ice while changing lanes so now I'm thinking about buying a Porsche 991 turbo S while we don't have kids and the next generation all wheel drive M5 is being made. Since many of you have P cars what do you guys know about tunning this car? I always heard it's a ****ty car to tune because the engine, turbos and hoses are very sensitive and if you tune them you will have problems later. What can you tell me about this? Is it true? How many hp and nm will I win with a normal tune? And with tune and exhaust? Which companies are the most trust worthy and experienced? BR Performance? I live in Switzerland by the way. Also the car would be a 2014 model, does it come with Porsche car connect? Thank you so much for the attention and help. I wish you all a great day and please drive safe |

Glad to hear that your girlfriend is OK. Sorry about the car.
Lots of tuning options for a 991 TT and TTS. I would drive one before you decide on a tune. Not sure it is really necessary even on the autobahn. Great choice for a couple as long as you have another car to carry luggage or other stuff. |

I think you should drive a 991 Turbo before thinking about a tune.
The car is an absolute beast...I'm all for tuning but this car truly doesn't need it. It just works perfect out of the box!

Hi dear friends of the forum
Thank you so much for the best wishes and care. About staying loyal to BMW that something that will never change our next family car will be the M5 G series competition package AWD so we have no more surprises. I though about a 30 Jahre M5 but it's still rear wheel drive.... In the meanwhile I always wanted to have a turbo s since it's the everyday supercar per excellence. Even though it's considered a baby supercar with the likes of Mclaren and F488 taking the upper echelon. I think the Porsche is also a very safe car. I didn't crash one of course but a car this fast has to be safe even if it turns over just like my dear M5. I have test driven one last week and yes it is fast but comfort and technology wise ( in the gadgets part) Bmw is years ahead of Porsche. No HUD and entertainment is crappy ( though the 991.2 gen is much better is this aspect). When the car crashed it immediately called the police and the ambulance and give them gps directions while the operator talked to my GF and asked her if she was alright, if she was alone and preventing her from panicking . After the crash no even 10 minutes later and the police arrived. Again the car did this all by its own. Porsche doesn't have that, not even concierge services. So dear friends of the forum the grass isn't always greener on the other side. BMW is a hell of a brand! I don't know what would have happened in a crappier car..... My dear friend died a hero and that's why I don't have any pictures of him after. I want to remember him perfect with its Pure Metal Silver shine. He will be missed.... |

you could probably spend a good six months just getting used to the speed improvement of even a stock turbo s over an m5, lol. probably faster than any fully modded m5.

Idk if your into a older porsche
But 997 turbo manual is one of the greatest cars ever made. It really depends on what you will be doing on the road. Thats the key element I figure you were asking about a winning car so here it is. Porsche 997 turbo Bigger turbo Intercooler E85 Enzo tune Will win and break some hearts. Heres a few clip of my friends "slow porsche as he calls it" over 800whp on mustang dyno Btw he has UGR 3 also lp570 lightweight version https://instagram.com/p/BC6irdFpmzq/ https://instagram.com/p/BC6Yk6zpm-i/ https://instagram.com/p/BC6Y6yvpm_g/ https://instagram.com/p/BCWZAtNJm-u/ |

OP's observations are very accurate. M5 is a great sports car especially when you have a need for all that room and options, such as HUD, soft close,.... If you care more about driving experience, the Porsche is an amazing car. It is super fast (and expensive) already without any mod. BTW, once you start to think about and do your first mod, you cannot stop. Even though I do not track, I am going to put on Kline exhaust, IPD plenum, COBB access port,... I did not have that urge with the M5. Do not know why. On the flip side, it has limited space. I can barely fit a carry-on suitcase and a briefcase in the small trunk. Forget about the back seats. Not even midgets will fit there. The M5 is way more user friendly and offer some serious room. I missed my M5 in that regard.
It all depends on what you want with your toy. |

Hey everyone
Actually I'm having some doubts about the P car now. Like my wife says it's not so comfortable as the M5, the gadgets are quite crappy, it has now luggage compared to the M and the performance well until 250km/h the PTS takes the crown but after.... I don't know... And now she is even telling me that she would prefer an M6 to the beetle. The thing is if I BR performance tune the M5/6 will still the P car be faster? Some advice needed please |

Just no comparison. If you have no need to drive more than one person or all the options, Porsche turbo S. Otherwise, M5. All the people that have owned and driven both will tell you the same.

Hi everyone ; )
OK i made up my mind. A turbo S it is! We dont have any kids (they should come in two years) so for now let me just have fun. As I was searching the web learing more about the car I came across this : Porsche 991 Turbo/S heat soak issues http://www.porsche**********/content...oler)-upgrades http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...rap-speed.html http://www.***********.com/content.p...O-FOLLOW-AFTER Do you guys have any idea if this is as grave as they say in these links? I almost dont believe an over engineered car like the Turbo has these problems. Its almost as Porsche didn't to much testing.... Thank you all for the feedback ; ) |

With no mod, it can go 0-60 in 2.8 or 2.9 sec. Isn't that enough? I will answer my own question, no, as I will go Cobb tune and Kline exhaust soon. |
