Safest Tune For Our Beasts?

Besides Dinan, what tune do you guys would be safest to go with? My 2013 F10 has 45k miles and I don't want to kill the motor or turbos. I'm willing to sacrifice a few horses for reliability. Any help is appreciated.

Velos Stage 1 piggy; safe, reliable and enough power to walk a stock M5 CP. 65hp/75tq gains approximately.

Plug and play ... no DME drilling

This topic has been beaten to death ... do a search on the tune section and you'll have enough to read for days on the piggy vs tune debate.

Good luck!

^^^

This.

JB4 is a great 'piggy' route, add BCM for 'stage 2' plus water/meth then clutchs and stack with a bench/dyno tune and SSP clutch's for 'stage 3'. JB4 has many great extra features like logging, tunability and code reading which gets important when tuning and running high boost/hp S63's.

Then through in airfiltes/ intakes, downpipes and exhaust... just don't expect huge gains from any or all of these.

Replace and regap your plugs to between 0.018-0.022 to save MAL's from high boost etc.

Lastly custom tune, stacked everything and Pure stage 2 turbos for <1000bhp.

We can make the tune as non aggressive or aggressive as you like. We've done very conservative 620 HP tunes for customers that have requested them.

too much emotion for a thread on this subject to last to long, loads of fanboys.

Mike is a go to as well as a few others on here for bench tunes just not your ecus will need to be sent to them and then drilled or the cases opened to do the flash - no OBDII flashes for the F10 M5 ... yet.

^^^ this is going to be the best route. Flash tuning from the right tuners (BPM, Mission, DME... etc) will turn your car into a beast that it should be. It will run more efficient than a piggy and it's much more reliable. I love the JB4 system, however, it's best when it's stacked with a tune to adjust those parameters that the JB4 cannot.

Stock is best tune. Lol. Anything goes wrong, warranty worry free. Alot of dealers now voiding cars and seeing "tune related spike" through your keys when u get some type of service.

No love for JB4/BCM?

I would say safest is most reliable for the power level you want. BPM and DME Tuning seem to have a growing market share because their customers are very satisfied with the service received. To me, safe means protected from extremes (temperatures, AFR, timing, boost spikes, etc). That's why a lot of people stack JB4 with a flash tune to have monitoring and logging capabilities (that and adding boost over 22psi). If you're at 22psi and 12.5 AFR with trims below 44 the entire curve, then IMO you are safe.

Youre even safer if you have supporting mods like clutches, axles, meth, ice tank, colder plugs, better fuel, etc. I would keep it below 25 psi... Have fun nodding, it really brings the car to life!

All tunes from proven brands are safe as long as you are running recommended maps.

I like the Jb4 because of the datalogging feature that allows user to check how car is handling extra boost at any time
