Auto insurance betterment??!!

Recently involved in an accident with my m5. Single car accident. Wasn?t injured

Had my car towed to the dealership. Over 15k in damage to the front bumper / tire/ wheels / axel / and a few other things

My insurance is making me pay my deductible (standard) and something called betterment towards 3 of the tires and one axel. They want another 500$ towards those 4 parts

Never really heard of this betterment concept until I researched it. I have various people telling me to fight it

Any thoughts ?

Do you have any aftermarket wheels or spoilers that cost "more" than OEM? That is the only reason I could see them trying to charge you "betterment" Or if you have the factory 20" 343's and they have the standard 19" listed on their computer, and since the 20's are an "upgrade" they are trying to get you for that. SMH

If everything is factory I would fight it. Make them explain what "betterment" are you receiving.

I guess how it works is since the one tire had 20% tread left , they only wanna fork up 20% towards a new tire. Because they obviously can?t throw on a tire with 20% tread left. So they make you pay the difference. I understand the concept. Just kinda unexpected

Oh okay. Did not know tires were worn. But to be honest, that is really "shitty" on their part. How many years have you been with them? I have been with State farm over 20 yrs , if they tried to "nickel and dime" me like that after all the premiums I have paid them over the years I would be pissed.

Okay , well that explains everything. Don't be surprised of they drop you at the end of the year too. Costing them money in the first year is usually a bad sign for them.
