Warranty question re *repeated* issue
You know when you first pay for a job you get (at least in Canada) 2 yrs/unlimited mileage warranty? Now, luckily I went w a dealer that goes by what I thought would be the reasonable way to handle repeated work on the paid job, i.e. if a new gasket fails and is replaced, the warranty RESETS to a new 2 yrs/unlimited. However, I asked another dealer and they basically said it's the original warranty and once those 2 yrs are over, that's it. Doesn't seem fair. What's it like for your dealers?

Pretty sure that is standard procedure for the majority or warranty work in most industries, not just the motor industry?
I can't speak for the motor industry but I know in things like tech, if you get a repaired or replaced device, the original warranty is honored, not a new one. Or, they will provide a 6 month warranty on the repaired/replaced item.

Ok, but this is a bit different since it's dealing w car parts subject to various stresses/wearing; I realise if I buy a toaster and it screws up and I got a new one under warranty I don't get a new warranty also....I guess I'm lucky to hv a dealer w that repeating warranty policy?

As for that dealer saying the warranty resets when parts are replaced: I highly doubt it does. An individual dealer may be able to extend an extra warranty on things like labor, but for the parts themselves? Highly, highly doubtful if there is no extra cost involved.
