Tyre wear.

Hi,

I am currently running on Pirelli - I have done around 3000 miles on a new set and both rear tyres are now illegal (UK).

Any suggestions on a harder wearing tyre?

Maybe look for more of an all season tire. I've had good luck with Hankook tires on other M5's.

Also maybe restrict your right foot a little more.

Pirellis are terrible for longevity. Barely got 9,000 miles out my rears. The current Michelin PS4S is the best tire for our cars for treadlife and also for wet road performance. No other tire comes close at the moment.

Used MPSS are a great value and last almost as long as the new PS4S

Thanks - out of interest in the dry are they as good putting down the power?

I never had the pirelli's but went MPSS to MPS4's and they are great!

Nah, the PS4S is about equivalent to the PSS in terms of traction on dry pavement. I'm waiting for the Pilot Sport Cup 3 to come out one day, and hope it will have a bit more longevity than the Cup 2, which is less than 10,000 miles.

What's typical mileage for PS4S? My Pirelli's are down to 5/32 and trying to nurse a little longer.. Curious what's best bang for buck on next set..

Can't get both out of the same tire. Pick one or the other. Do you want great traction in the dry or the wet?

PS 4 is a great tire, I had 26k miles on mine when it was totaled with 6/32 on rear and 8/32 on the fronts.....
