Is this knock ?

Hi Guys
Have a 2014 F10 M5 with 18000mls and it recently started making this sound. Sounds like a knocking sound or something being loose. Took it to the dealer and they say its normal. Sounds suspiciously like rod know to me ? The car is stock standard,still under motorplan and not tracked etc

Don't know what it is, but I can definitely it knocking.

I seriously hope this is not a big deal, mine makes a very similar noise but i dont hear it all the time. My car is stock and on 39k.

I had similar noises, it turned out to be timing chain issue. It’s at a BMW dealership being fixed.

This is normal noice and it’s not engine. Transmission oil line and pump sometimes makes that noice. Don’t worry. 👍🏻

What can be done to remedy this? I understand that its nothing to worry about, but its hella irritating.

It should be fine but check the sealing security of your air filter enclosures and the air filters themselves if they're in good shape, the a/f enclosures are fiddly to screw back together and any unchecked gap could cause problems.

Thanks. I have already done an oil service through the dealer using their TT 5W-30 oil. I have also done an oil analysis of the old oil with no issues to report. I am leaning more toward what @FinlandM5F10 is saying that it has to do with the transmission.

I heard it, video has gone now but if it is a pump pushing the ATF oil then there sure is a problem there with the racket it was making,it just wasn't right.Mine is silent as a lamb.

Does the noise change from when the car is first started for the day to when the engines up to temp? It's tough with a video to get the sound across, if there was an issue it sounds valve train related.

No ,the sound stays there regardless of whether its cold or on operating temp. I must add that the noise is only audible when stationary. If the you let of the brake and let the vehicle just "creep" forward the noise goes away. The moment you depress the brake again and stand still you can hear it again.

Ok I pressume its a DCT 'box not a manual 6 speed, what's the mileage?

At the moment its on 33k km (20,5k miles)

I was told by mechanic that specializes in M5s. Whatever dealership did it fixed that issue

Are you test that every spargplug is tight. Sound that might be losen but still works and no CEL

I have the same sound going on. Mine is definitely from the DCT. Has anyone ever tried to do a relearn? I called SSP and they suggested it.
