Simple Basic F80 6 spd manual fluid flush.

Did this last week along with the rear diff. Like another member mentioned, these cars are super easy to work on. Again, the dealer qouted me an astronomical amout of money not to mention having to leave my car overnight. So here is the quick and dirty for future wrench turners.
On a warmed up transmission:

1) Jack up car and safely support the vehicle.

2) Remove tranny shield/ guard....there are ten 8mm fastners and one 10 mm nut.

3) Using a 8mm Hex drive, remove fill bolt first.

4) Remove 8mm Hex drive drain plug and drain fluid. It is hard to tell due to my bad lighting, but my fluid was basically a dark brown. Also, this was the first flush on my 40,000 mile + transmission and when I removed the drain bolt there was a bit of hesitation mid way through the removal either from micro sediments of metal or a bit of gunk that I noticed on the threads. I ended up purchasing a new drain plug only because I didn't quite like how the old plug felt threading back into the housing and the new plug had nice new sharp threads on it. BMW F80 M3 Drain Plug (From 2014 or after) # 23-12-7-602-815

5) This is optional and probably a waste of fluid, but I inserted the fill tube into the fill hole, and with the drain plug still off I vigorously pumped about a quarter of the bottle into the transmission with the drain bolt off just to make sure fresh fluid flowed out of the bottom and hopefully flush any possible debris with it.

6) Secure drain plug and torque to 40 nm.

7) Using the fluid transfer pump, fill roughly 1.5 litres into the fill hole until it begins to run out. For now I used BMW MTL-LT 5 #83-22-2-239-654

8) Install fill plug and torque to 40 nm.

9) Clean off excess spillage with solvent/cleaner.

10) Re install shield/ splash guard.

That's it. Total time :30 minutes tops!

Thank you for the write up! Is the oil you used the exact same as the car came with from factory?

Any idea how to do this if you don't have a lift? I suppose you'd have to jack the car up and put it on 4 jack stands, otherwise it wouldn't be straight/flat to the ground?

Yes, 75 W 80- MTL OEM fluid from the Factory.
The car does need to be on jacks for the service. I use two low profile 2 1/2 ton jacks on both plastic jack points, then slide two Rhino ramps under each front tire and repeat the process for the rear. It's costly to buy two jacks and two sets of ramps, but I can have the car safely lifted in ten minutes.
