What does a spun bearing sound like?

Hello,

I've actually got an F90, but the F10 forum seems better for this as not getting much luck on the F90 forum. I pulled out of my drive the other day, car made a loud knocking noise that sounded like a dreaded bent rod for around a few seconds, then went quiet again. I'm obviously a bit paranoid after this, I've attached a video of the car on idle and revving. It sounds normal to me. It's also making a whistling noise at around 2.5k rpm when it comes on boost which happened shortly after I heard the knock, also seems to have lost some power. If it had spun a bearing would it be knocking all the time?

Sorry for the poor video quality, tried to balance my phone.

Sounds like a normal BMW tick. Also the ticking doesn't go faster as the RPM's increase. Are you tuned? How many miles? All F90's are still under warranty. Why not take it to the dealer for a better diagnostic?

I am tuned, just Evolve Stage 1. In the UK we only get 3 year warranty instead of 4 years and it's an early 2018 car with 20,000 miles so no BMW warranty unfortunately. It does have a 6 month warranty on it from the garage I bought it from, but it's through RAC (A third party).

It's just the knock I heard, that suddenly went away, but could have been nothing I guess. I'll take it in so they can have a look at it. But it sounds normal to me. I'm guessing a spun bearing would make a noise?

I can't see the video but it could be the exhaust manifold gasket. If those gaskets leak, they sound like rod knock when cold and when they expand they seal a bit better. And since you mentioned whistling and loss of power, it's kinda pointing to that. it's sorta common on F10s

This is what I was thinking actually. I have catless DP's ready to go on it, so I'll grab some new gaskets at the same time. Dropping it in with a mechanic friend to do a boost leak test and see if he can spot any leaks anywhere.
