BimmerCode
Can someone explain or point me to resources that explain what BimmerCode is, what equipment is needed, from where it can be obtained, how to use it, and any risks/drawbacks?

I'm looking for an independent point of view.

I just ended up going with whatever bluetooth dongle they recommended and used it with Bimmerlink to register my battery. Bimmercode and Bimmerlink go hand in hand. I've also used Bimmercode to code my AC on whenever i hit auto climate control to keep my windows from fogging.

It's a $30 app for your phone that does a fraction of what you can do with E-SYS (free), but makes doing it very simple for most common things you'll want to change. You'll need a OBDII interface for either. BimmerCode lists several compatible devices on their website and E-SYS uses an Ethernet to OBDII connector. I guess the question is what are you trying to do and will BimmerCode do it? Either system involves risk of bricking one or more modules on your car that could require expensive dealer repairs. BimmerCode is safer for beginners as long as you stay away from Expert Mode,

You can download bimmercode for free from the app store. Put it in demo mode and you can play around with it not connected to your car to see everything it will allow you to modify (code). This is probably the best way to get familiar with it
Should you decide to move forward with coding you would then pay for the app - it is recommended that you use a cable vs wireless adaptor. If you have an iphone you would want to go to amazon (or wherever) and purchase a lighting to female ethernet cable and a male ethernet to OBD cable Hope this helps |

I bought the ethernet connector, the ethernet cable to my iPad, downloaded BimmerCode, played with the demo section and read the help section of the app, and coded my car in 15 minutes, probably made 15 to 18 changes, works perfectly. Search my posts here, I have done a couple extensive posts on the method.

I went with the Kies adapter. It works via WiFi or ethernet cable.

Does coding through BimmerCode void manufacture warranty?

Is there a place where I can find the difference between ALL the available applications out there for M4?

From my experience, it just takes a lot of reading forums to find what these tools do. I'm a novice, but have used ESYS and BimmerCode to do some very basic things. I used ESYS to code out the bulb checks on my F30 that caused flickering after swapping to LED bulbs, and I used BimmerCode to code Auto Start Stop to retain the last setting on my G30. BimmerCode was super easy to use, and as long as you use it in basic mode (not expert mode), it should be pretty foolproof. ESYS is a lot more in-depth and takes some reading before diving in.

Download BimmerCode, then choose your car, then there is an option for what coding is available for that car… It’s simple.

BimmerCode is super easy and has worked great for me on my E90 M3, G01 X3 and F82 M4.
I bought the OBDLinkCX Bluetooth dongle they recommend on their site. |

Just want to update the group with any vert owners' here.
Key Fob, with Convenient Access Touch optioned F83 convertibles can be coded with BimmerCode even though it says Convertibles are not supported. I am guessing Convenient Access option has something to do with it. Hope this is helpful!
