Replacing engine oil from 5w-30 to 0w-40
Hi everyone. Im planning to switch to 0w-40 from 5w-30 on my next oil change. Is there anything to do differently other than an engine flush? Thanks!

Exactly. Just drain the old oil out preferably when its hot and remove the oil filter casing, its a big engine so takes a while to drain out completely probably an hour actually to just drips then after replacing the oil pan nut with new washer and installing new filter fill with 9.5 litres of your chosen oil and check it off with the electronic oil capacity gauge and tick off the oil change service space on your dash menu.

It's not necessarily about weight of the oil, more so about the approvals and additives. S63 calls for BMW LL01 FE oil in particular, but regular LL-01 works fine. I use Liqui Moly 5w-30 Special Tec B FE
