Front splitter
Came across this one piece solid bottom front splitter that will only fit the M5 F10 for a reasonable price, finished in gloss black could be the perfect companion if you're thinking of taking your motor to the Nordschleife on the German autobahns

Carbon look costs a little more.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364249345...3ABFBM2rDzs51l Weighs in gross at 4.5 kilos so not flimsy at all and looks the business, ignore the compatibility chart with ad, it's only for our models. Just ordered mine, carbon look goes great with the Singapore Grey colour and I'm sure will keep the front end glued to the road, maybe save some petrol too... ^ Full carbon would be too expensive to replace if it was severely damaged in hump and pot holed filled GB so the abs one is the way to go for me and it compliments my real carbon door mirror covers

Bit of a whoopsie with one of the corner supporting pieces of my splitter kit when it was delivered, on opening the long box there was a 6 inch crack on it so after the sending the shop a pic of the cracked corner they are sending me both left and right corners! and will be fitted when the weather is warmer with having plenty of time figuring how it will be fitted.

While I'm waiting for those corner parts I'm finishing replacing the troublesome turbo cooling lines with better more flexible slightly thicker impreganated micro hose pipes using the correct 21mm ear hose clips that are tightened with the special pliers provided in the kit, which don't over tighten the hose and finishing off with gold coloured tubular 5 inch long cloth type heat proof spark plug leads protectors, and... below those are silver heat proof rolled cut to size blankets that cover the hoses, so now you have twin layer protection. The old two middle hoses were almost rock hard and came off in pieces being careful not to score the ally pipes with the upturned Stanley box knife I was using.
The German name for these hose clips is Oetkiter and the originals were 18.5 mm but you'll never get them on or with great difficulty so the 21mm ones slip on easy onto the hoses (using a tiny amount of vaseline to ease the hoses over the pipes...no jokes please!) and tighten up just right without mashing the hose ends. If you ignore this service leaking coolant gets onto the rear of the turbos and can damage other components if excessive. Last edited by M5Rick; 03-04-2025 at 04:34 AM.. |

Received the two carbon look l/r corners yesterday and they were intact in spite of the courier plopping the box on the walkway to my front door, shop where I bought from (wasn't the one above) were excellent looking after me so now I have 4 corners in all to play with albeit one that was cracked from the previous main delivery, only use e bay when you buy these sort of accessories for that money back or replacement guarantee.
If you want to know where I got it from then I'll put it on. Last edited by M5Rick; 03-06-2025 at 04:25 AM.. |

and... splitter fitted. Wasn't that easy but being a sunny warmish day took the plunge using my two small hyd' jacks lifting the front of the car a foot. if you have standard suspension then there's lots of room underneath.

I have two small hydraulic jacks which made the job much easier lifting the car from the front jacking points using the round slotted rubber jack cushions and removing the serrated jacking ends from the jacks so its a flat contact. There are instructions on the internet of how others fit them also. |
