Low Engine Oil
I recently changed my oil on my 2013 M5. It was the first time I performed the oil change myself. After replenishing the well with 8qt of Liqui Moli NexGen. I drove around the block to get a feel for anything odd and or improved and Immediately notice the increase in power and acceleration, the rough idle had went away as well. Much of the improvements in performance where du to other maintenance I had performed on the beast before I made the change. But now I keep getting a low engine oil reading when I perform a oil measurement. There are no leaks, the filter and oil pan plug are on Mechanic right and yet I still get the same readout. Is there an additional reset I can perform to have the system read the engine oil levels properly?

Where did you get 8qt. from? It’s 9qt. to get it to a safe mid-level.
I usually let it settle, warm up, measure, and add another 0.5qt. to get it to max. |

@[M5_Raz] Normally take it to the shop, I had just decided to do it myself this time. I did 8qt because I could only get my hands on 8qt at the auto parts store.I had to order another 5qt.

Just an update. The engine oil measure has returned to normal levels. It actually took about 9.5-10qt of oil. I wonder if it took more oil because of the engine flush I performed prior to the oil change.
Anyhow, thank you for all those who responded. Last edited by M5DadGang; 05-30-2025 at 10:21 AM.. |
