Body shop in Richmond VA / DMV that can be trusted?

Hi everyone,

I need your help to find body shop to keep my daily driver on the road. Unfortunately my dear M2 has been in an accident cause by a distracted driver who collided into me and I am not sure who to trust with the repair (fully covered by insurance).

Ideally, the closest to Richmond, VA the better. However, I’m willing to drive to DMV to get quality work done on the car.

Have had a horrible experience with a Caliber Collison that repaired my old Mini a few years ago and it still hurts to this day. They never fully took accountability for the damage they caused and left me PTSD on what should have been a simple repair covered by insurance.

Please help, I need a body shop that can be trusted with a delicate repair to the front of the car 🙏

A quick search for quality body shops for an M2 Competition brought up Koontz Body Shop. Caliber Collision appeared as well, but you’ve already had a bad experience with them. Hopefully someone in your area can chime in with firsthand recommendations. You might also check with your local BMW dealership and ask who they use for body work. Most dealerships outsource serious repairs to reputable local shops.

D and V Autobody is near Dulles airport in Sterling VA - very high quality work, one of the best in the area, and a big sponsor of the BMW car club. Kevin is the manager. https://www.dandvautobody.com/

Try reaching out to Patrick at Bimmer Rescue in Richmond - he's been in business long enough to have some suggestions for you.

Sounds like you've got some solid recommendations here, but if you didn't or what another opinion, I'd ask your local dealership who they use. Unless it was that Caliber, lol.

Stuff like this is one of the reasons I think that a membership in the BMWCCA can be so valuable. You're going to meet like-minded enthusiasts that really, really care about their cars and won't let just anyone work on them. I've always found their recommendations to be gold.

Do you mean County Line Collision in Powhatan?

That is the place that was recommended by the local dealer and they do seem specialized in BMWs and have good reviews so I will probably bring it to them.

Appreciate all other answers from kind strangers who chimed in to help!

County Line does great work. They paint matched my alpha N hood perfectly and I just dropped of an Adro bumper for them paint yesterday. One of the best in RVA and yes they handle alot of BMW collision work from the dealers

FWIW, I have had two very good experiences with Rosslyn Auto Body in Alexandria, VA. They are certified for BMW, MB, Tesla, VW and several other brands. I have no personal experience for a BMW, but I vouch for them and give them a straight A based on my experiences involving a GTI that I owned -- once in in 2021 (rear-ended, bumper only) and again in 2023 (side front hit by someone who went through a stop sign, with hood/fender/bumper/headlight/sensors needing replacement). In both cases, the collisions were in town and at fairly low speed (so no frame damage), and the car was fixed to factory specs.

Burleigh’s. Got connected to them 20 years ago for a G body 911. They’ve done 5 or 6 cars for my family since. Highly recommend.

Really appreciate the reassuring feedback! Have already started working with them and hopefully they can do a good job painting matching both of our bumpers!!

Also, thank to all other users who shared their trusted body shops in VA 🙏
