2001 540i wagon
Hey! I recently bought a 2001 BMW 540i and i've went to start it one morning and it didn't crank... but the dash lights and everything came on. I've replaced the starter and that didn't work. i'm wondering i've anyone knows what to do or how to fix it.

Replace the battery(ies). Post the OBD codes you have scanned.

Battery is the obvious first guess. Just dashboard lights as usual does not mean the battery is charged. If it starts with a jump pack or on jumper cables or connected to a hood battery then you have your suspect.
Rotted motor to chassis grounds have been an issue on some BMWs as they age. Quick test is to use another jumper cable with both sides as engine to chassis grounds to see if cranking changes. |
