European Tours?

I am looking to go to Europe a year from now, and hopefully hit up Oktoberfest in Germany. I would like to, at minimum, visit Italy (Rome), Germany, and London. I've already been to Paris and Belgium, and while Id go back again, I'd rather go other places first.

I've heard of people going with a group tour for 10-14 days, everything included. Anyone do that? Which company did you use? While Im sure I could do it by myself, booking the trains and planning and what not, I've heard that people who do these tours get into the sites much quicker than if you go by yourself.

Any other suggestions?

well me and my bro did a road trip from Hamburg all the way down to Athens just a few weeks ago.

we started with booking the flight/hotel to Hamburg (Germany).
Every city which we were gonna go to was booked (hotel) from the previous city we were in online. Once in the city, we'd book the tours for that city through the concierge of the hotel.
That way we were not stuck seeing certain stuff that we thought were boring, and if we needed to stay an extra day or two for whatever reason, we weren't screwed with a schedule.

We did an organized tour for Beijing. We ended up ditching the tour for a few days to go exploring on our own because the schedule for those days didn't interest us. We booked a flight for Shanghai and did the tours there while the people on our tour went to a carpet factory on day 1 and a hospital on day 2.
I've been to carpet factories in Turkey. had no interest of seeing it again.

Organized tours are great, and it is true they get into sights faster. But local organized tours get in faster as well. You can nitpick per city if you pick them up locally. You aren't obliged by the will of a group for 10 days. We ended up with a lot of douchebags to Beijing.

hit me up with a PM if there is anything I can help you with or if you need clarifications.
