After 8 months of M3 ownership, it's time to say goodbye!
After a bit of Sunday afternoon impulse shopping, I finally scratched the itch that had been bugging me for ages since I traded my 997 C2S for a new M3. Traded my 8 month, 17.5k mile old M3 in for a GTR
My Akra slip on will be for sale in the classifieds sometime soon and I must admit I will miss the sound of that V8. I just missed the exclusivity and presence of the Porsche, something a bright red GTR definitely helps to reclaim! Thanks for all the advice on here regarding the M3 and various mods, it was all very useful and much appreciated. Maybe I'll jump into another M3 sometime down the line Obligatory pics!

Every time I look at the nose of an R35, I wonder who designed it ... and wtf they were thinking.
The rest of the car looks so good that the contrast/mis-match is just jarring. But, that's what you get when you divide up the exterior design between design offices in japan (front), US(mid), and England(rear) (IIRC). -scheherazade |

The 2012 would've been $30k + more than I paid for this. I'll jump into a '12 in a few years

GTR"s are just too flashy for my liking, especially in red. Too much attention, especially from cops. I know its a great performer but I would have gone back to a porsche as its much classier IMO

You can buy 2012 OEM parts at the dealer : - turbo inlets - intake - exhaust Then add : - cobb flash tranny to LC4 (youtube.com/watch?v=9FIE5fB5Lqw) - cobb tune = 2012 equivalent power. Which works out fairly cheap. (eg. oem 2012 intake + inlets runs around $1K iirc). But you could go for more than stock 2012 power if you wanted to. (Stock 09 + cobb is already more than 2012 power) Most the other updates are tweaks. The only substantial changes are : - less negative camber and more caster in front - stock tyres are now the dunlop 600 dsst Of those two, - The first is hard to replicate but it's not relevant off of the track at 9+/10ths (as static -camber is the same in a turn, however its slightly worse straight line braking) - The second you can buy next time you get new tyres. Otherwise, it's very down-low. Only "car people" know what it is. Majority of people think it's a regular nissan sports car, maybe a z with a body kit. Usually it goes unnoticed, with the periodic gawker. If you had a 911 turbo, everyone would think it's $texas (non-car-people included) - even if they didn't know the specifics. I'm a big fan of dark gray (gunmetal). The ~most likely color to be in an accident (depending on study, sometimes most, sometimes almost most) - precisely for the same reason why it's likely to be in an accident - because people don't notice it. -scheherazade Last edited by scheherazade; 10-08-2011 at 02:36 AM.. |

I agree. It is Asian.
The GTR is a vehicle built with a single minded purpose: to the be fastest point A to B tool under a given price ceiling. If that is what you want, look no further. Then there is this viewpoint:
