Vishnu Catted DP = Check Engine???

Anybody else experience this? Mine came on last night driving home late. Was under the impression that having the catted version of the DP would eliminate the "service engine soon" light.

Yeah but I thought even being high flow they aren't supposed to trip the cel...not much on the forums about it. Emailed vishnu and waiting on a response. Hoping somebody else chimes in.

High flow cat does not equal to "no emission codes". Other people here already reported catted DP does throw "Emission error codes" sometimes and there is no guarrantte that it won't.

Buy a BMS DP fix which will solve this propblem for good.

Its hit an miss with catted pipes. No codes on some cars, codes on others. Right now the CanTool is the only standalone CEL suppressor on the N55.

Can tool will suppress CEL, but what about passing emission test?
I have read a few posts that some high flow catted DPs failed to pass.

A o2 simulator/downpipe fix can't help with the sniffer test. We have no data on that as the cars/pipes are too new and nobody needs an emissions test for several years.

Locally we need emissions after 7-years

So you drive a brand new car off the lot and within a year you need to do a sniffer test?

That seems dumb LOL (probably just a tax grab as I can't imagine any cars emission system failing that fast)

Has anyone tried an o2 defouler? You can make a straight version of these things yourself for like $7 with parts from most any autoparts store.

Here's an example of one that a company made for Hondas

The basic principle is that the hole is quite small, so only a small amount of the exhaust makes its way to the secondary o2 sensor. This essentially tricks the o2 sensor into thinking the exhaust is cleaner than it is.

I had one on my RSX for a while (until a sim was released that worked 100%), it did not prevent the CEL 100% of the time, but I only ever got a CEL once every 6 or 7k miles.
Given that you have hi-flow cats, it could make the CEL infrequent enough that you could pass emissions.

I had the same thing on my V70R and it worked for 5+ years!
