Catless all the way to stock muffler. Sounds!
I have cpe catless downpipes and now a n55 catless midpipe and stock muffler. Let me be the first to say it sounds like crap!! At half throttle its sounds ridiculous. At full throttle it sounds pretty good though.

Ya kinda. It's really strange sounding. I'm thinking that if I put a x or h pipe in the midpipes it might help. Not sure about that though. Any thoughts on that?

I've heard fully catless setups and I am not a fan of it. IMO the best sounding exhaust is catless downpipes on a stock exhaust as it will be throatier at WOT while still being civilized in part throttle. I know I am probably sacrificing 5-10hp, but it is worth it for me as it is already quick enough (117mph trap speeds on pump gas).

I'll be running Berk Race with stock N54 Mids and 3" catless DPs.

I think after market rear muffler would help in your situation. Or resonators it would give more boss sound.

Got the intercooler directly from HPF. It has the stock like connectors so install is a breeze after all the cutting that's required. I am no longer running cobb. I switched to JB4 because I wanted to run meth and a e85 mix. But ya I highly recommend the HPF intercooler.

Right now I'm running something similar dps and catless mids just resonator without muff. The rasp right before 2k rpm makes the floor shake, initially hated it but it grew on me. Not the best thing for 5am runs to McDonalds tho...
That would have to be aftermarket as the stock resonator barely helps. If you like deep throaty power notes then don't fall down the slippery slope i did. Last edited by JefryHorizon; 03-21-2012 at 07:14 PM.. |

I'm running AR downpipes and N55 mids with the stock muffler (no Golf tee mod).
Sounds really good at wot and when its on boost but under 3,000 rpm its a bit raspy. Still sounds nice from the outside but inside the car with the windows open its a bit annoying. With the windows shut it is very quiet though. Sounds near stock. |
