Question regarding Stage 2 PPK

I recently purchased the Stage 2 PPK from a BMW dealer who had the item listed on eBay. The kit came with the high output fan, the auxiliary radiator, hoses, wires, fan relay and mounting hardware. In addition, the box included six spark plugs and a red envelope with a security seal. I purchased the kit for the additional cooling and plan on installing it myself. I was surprised to find the spark plugs and the red envelope. Does anyone know what is contained in the red envelope (i.e. coding for the fan, Stage 1 flash, etc.)?

It is the "key" for the flash that the dealership will use to download the new code.

Sorry to be dense, but did I completely luck out and get the PPK software flash, or just some codes to make the fan and relay work?

If you have the envelope, then you have the flash. The envelope stays in the car after the dealer installs in case it needs to be updated in the future. PPK2 definitely includes the flash, so you received the appropriate materials.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for the Stage 2 PPK?

It lists for $2,095 plus $195 for the bumper shroud (on realoem.com). I was lucky enough to pick it up for less than half of that amount.

Sorry, the link didn't work for me. Not sure if it is the same. There's the Stage 1 for the flash only. Stage 2 comes with the fan, radiator, etc. I thought I remember the Stage 1 going for around $1k on eBay and the Stage 2 for $2k. I wouldn't be surprised if someone messed up when pricing the auction I sniped.

Are you sure the envelope stays in the car, my impression was the PPK is tied to the VIN and if you need an update it shows under the installed options on your vehicle?

Can't say I'm 100% sure, but the dealer put it in my glove box and told me to keep it there just in case.
