Direct fit FMIC

I recall seeing some FMIC options that are obviously bigger and better flowing than stock but don't require trimming, and can be installed without removing bumper cover. (pretty cheap too, around $5-600)

Im wondering.. are the cooling gains enough for FBO? And which are/is they/it? lol I cant find it now that Im looking..

Also, if your not tracking your car does it make any sense to get a huge intercooler? I think a slightly bigger FMIC and meth will be more than enough cooling for the commonly upgraded daily (intake, exhaust, tune, meth, charge pipe, BOV lighter wheels+tires...)

Right?

ETS 5" FMIC. Requires 0 cutting and can be put on without removing the front bumper. You will definitely feel less heat soak as FBO doing back to back runs.

I saw the ETS, kinda overlooked it.. thanks!
It looks like good quality. For those interested, I came across this http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433930

Any others that fit the same criteria? I like options

He doesn't specify in the post if that's the 5" or the 7". But the 7" is the one that requires cutting to fit while the 5" doesn't.

I've had my new 5" ETS FMIC sitting in my garage for the last week. Hopefully I'm going to have time to install it on Friday. The two reasons I went with the ETS is first and foremost it is a direct fit and secondly that it has very good reviews from those who have installed one.

The Helix stepped core intercooler requires a TINY bit of trimming to the temp sensor bracket--IMO a small price to pay for the performance.

What about the ER FMIC? I have not heard anyone run this, and I believe it's a 20"x5.5"x6"...

And you have 3 options for the kit

Wagner is the FMIC that does not require any cutting. It is truely "plug and play" no trimming. Just do a search to find the threads.

Yes, makes the install so much easier.

Love the look of my ER in the bumper (I pulled the lower center grille and cut the teeth off at the same time) but it did require a pretty good amount of cutting to fit it.

Supposedly the ETS 5" doesn't either. I'll find out on Friday when I do the install.

LOL stock FMIC looks like complete garbage. I could of made a better FMIC after looking around the junkyard for an hour

Ok let's try to trim this down a hair....

Requires Cutting:

-Evolution Racewerkes
-Helix
-Active Autowerke
-?

Doesn't:

-ETS
-AMS
-HPF
-Wagner

Feel like I'm missing something

I think the HPF requires cutting, seems like a pretty big unit not to.

I watched their install video and they didn't do anything cutting to my knowledge

Our intercoolers are also one of the easiest to install (in less than one hour) as they utilize the factory mounting tabs, factory c-clip couplers and don't require any silicon couplers or extra hose clamps. Our intercoolers are the only ones that utilize the sway bar mounting tabs to create a structural reinforcement that holds the intercooler tightly in place and our intercoolers fit within the factory grill and do not interfere with the radiator airflow.
