Newb Questions

So I searched and couldn't find direct answers to either of these questions, the first one is easy, the second...not so much.

First question - How loud is the turbo whine on these cars, as they build boost are they fairly quiet or are the turbos noticeable? I'm asking for both stock and with an intake.

Second question - I know there isn't a company who's done a lot in the way of bigger turbos, different exhaust manifolds so it may be hard to answer this, but what is the consensus for limits of a stock N54 engine internally? Obviously with all supporting mods, correct tune, exhaust, intake, fmic, proper octane fuel.

I am expecting my newly purchased, stock '08 135i in the next week or so (it's being shipped to my house because the seller lives like 2K miles away).

So you bought the car without ever having driven any example of it? brave. No you can't hear the turbos on a stock car, every stock piece you remove the more you hear it. Your limiting factor power wise is going to be traction. Making more power is very easy with this car.

No, I used to sell BMW's so I've driven them, but that was about three years ago and I never paid particular attention to how loud the turbo was on the N54...thanks for the reply.

I just got my '08. It is stock. While I haven' tried to listen for turbo whine, I don't notice it - so if it is there, it is negligible.

1. Fully modded you can hear the turbo quite a bit with the window's down, stock you wouldn't know it was a turbo car.

2. As far as turbo upgrades look on E90 post for Vishnu's single, so far they've been able to push 600+WHP on stock internals with no sign's of abnormal wear. There's a lot of threads on it you'll have to search your self. Also RB turbo has upgraded twins pushing about 550 WHP.
