On my previous leases it's always been 3 or 4 miles. Not much reason for more unless someone's joy riding somewhere in the delivery chain.

On Euro Delivery it is usually 1 mile. Shouldn't be much more on US Delivery.

Yea I agree - just curious on this batch of M5's hitting the US, as I had my C63 delivered a few years ago with 58 miles on it - WTF? I was too excited to drive so I left it be. But Im going to make sure this time its under 5 - especially since Im doing ED and I'll have already paid for the car.

I think in a car like an M5, every dealer employee wants to take it for a spin! I'll blow up if it happens on my delivery! Lol

Lesson learned

I've already discussed this with dealer that if car has more than 3 miles on it after I drop it off ED, then there will be an issue. He assured me only he will have the keys and will document the moment it is loaded off the truck. I once had a 2009 M3 that had 38 miles on the odometer. I thought no big deal until I had a door ding removed 6 months into driving her. Thats when I found out from body shop that the car had been painted and after more digging, found out it had been wrecked and the entire rear suspension replaced. A salesman let the back come out and find its way into a concrete barrier. This was never mentioned to me. I call the dealer and I get how much money do you want to forget about this issue, 1k 3k? I laugh and say my attorney will call you in the morning with my request. Long story short, I got a 2010 m3 with exact options, 5k, and no change in paperwork. So beware that miles should not be on these cars.

Depends on if you order anything aftermarket as well. Mine had 40-50km on it, but, it had to be taken out to a different shop twice to get 3M taping done so it didnt really seem like a big deal to me.

I like this ending ... I am sure the process is a hassle but good thing you got this sorted

I prepped two M5s today and they both had 8 miles on the clock. If you don't want them to test drive them then just let them know. We'd usually put about 10mi for a test drive on them so I'd say about 20ish give or take a few.

What is the minimum that the dealer needs to do when prepping an M5? I'm thinking:

Remove shipping blocks from suspension (not sure if the M5 comes with those)
Remove exterior and interior plastic covers
Set the car computer for normal operation
Key programming
Check fluid levels
Remove cosmoline from under the car?

By the way, how are the exterior plastic covers attached to the car? Is it by glue?

I had just over 12 miles after dealer did all the regular preparation work (PDI) and delivered the car to me.

I apologize in advance to what may be a silly question but why is it that the gas gauge on the left is indicating full..but the screen in the speedometer is displaying 3/4?

All cars are tested on the street before they get delivered in Germany, so even if you have 1 or 5 miles on the odo it is unlikely to be the real reading... Italian super cars like Ferrari and Maserati get delivered with actual mileage... never zero... more like 70

The fuel gauge reflects a full tank but the electronic readout displays the range for the car

This makes PERFECT sense, I was wondering why there would be 2 gas level indicators, thanks for clearing that up!

But if you do Euro Delivery, there isnt anything that needs to be done in the US correct? Other than driving the car off the truck into the lot?

We usually have around 7-14 Miles upon delivery due to PDI and fueling up. There is absolutely no reason it should have more than 20 miles unless the gas station to fill up is in Zimbabwe!
