Ditched my M4 order and went with an M5

I was called by my CA last weekend to place an order for an M4. I had seen it at the DC auto show, and liked it. I've been going back and forth between getting the M4 or M5, mainly because I have 3 children. I cart them around during the week. In the end, the M3/4 didn't fit my size needs, and I prefer the more luxurious interior of the M5. Coming from a 550i made it an easier choice, plus I took advantage of a 6 month lease pull ahead, and also got a great price. Singapore grey with silk grey interior and piano black trim, plus all the other goodies.

With kids the four doors just make so much more sense. I went from an E92 M3 to the F10 M5 and I love the easy passenger entry and exit. I got really tired of having to get out of the car to let someone into or out of the back seat. One time my teen age daughter tripped on the seat belt getting out of the M3 and she would have done a nasty face-plant had I not caught her. Two doors are fine for two people, and coupes look nice, but give me four doors every time...well at least until my son goes to college and I get that beautiful F Type V8 coupe!

Thanks guys. I definitely feel like I made the better choice. My children are 8, 7, and 1. I don't ever have them all in the car at once( I did it once in my 550i and it was tight!), but having four doors for soccer, baseball, and the occasional pick up from school is huge. It's funny how fatherhood can color a car enthusiast's choice of vehicle. For example, I was one who swore up and down that I would never get a minivan, but a third kid and 2 Honda Odyssey Elite's later, and the whole family is happier.

I'm happy with the M5, but the only things that I will change will be the exhaust (it's too quiet), clear bra, tint, and probably throw on some spacers, and I'll be done. Now, I just have to figure out how to keep the seats clean! To be honest, I would not have ordered silk grey as an option. I don't think (have not seen silk grey and silverstone interiors together) that it is worth the extra money.
